Mijas se prepara para celebrar el Carnaval en sus tres núcleos – Ayuntamiento de Mijas

• Pasacalles, animations, and children’s activities will be organized

Mijas, February 18, 2025.- Mijas will be filled with joy between Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 9. The City Council is already preparing for Carnival, which will take place in the three nuclei of the municipality, offering activities for all ages.

On Saturday, March 1, the celebration will be in Las Lagunas. Interested participants can sign up from 10:00 am for the parade starting at 11:00 am between the parks María Zambrano and Andalucía. An awards ceremony for the best costumes in different categories will be held at Andalucía Park, along with animation groups and children’s activities. A bar managed by the neighborhood association El Juncal will be set up.

On Sunday, March 2, the Carnival will take place in the central nucleus of Mijas Pueblo, specifically at Plaza Virgen de la Peña. Interested individuals can register at 10:00 am to participate in the parade, which will include floats and animation groups. The parade will start at 11:00 am from the Town Hall door through the village to Plaza Virgen de la Peña, where there will be children’s games, a stage for selecting the best costumes, and a bar managed by Cáritas.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, March 9, the celebration will be in La Cala de Mijas. Starting at 10:00 am, those who want to participate in the parade can register at the Cultural Center, where an hour later a parade with floats and animation groups will begin, ending at La Butibamba Park. There will be activities for children and a stage for choosing the best-dressed participants. The bar in this case will be managed by the parish group of Santa Teresa.

«We encourage all residents of Mijas to join the carnival because it will be a very fun event. We can’t wait to see the clever costumes that our neighbors will wear, as they always surpass themselves, making this event very participatory,» said Silvia Marín, Councilor for Festivities.

Carnival for Seniors

The Councilor also mentioned that Carnival parties for seniors will be held in all three nuclei. The first party will take place on February 25 at the Active Participation Center in Mijas Pueblo, followed by the next day at the Senior Center in La Cala. The festive calendar will conclude on February 27 at the Active Participation Center in Las Lagunas.

All parties will start at 4:30 pm and will run until 6:30 pm. The Council for Seniors of the Mijas City Council encourages participants to come dressed up for the occasion.
