The Minister of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality, Loles López, has signed an agreement with the Cathedral Chapter of Córdoba to extend the 100% discount on entry to the Mezquita-Cathedral of Córdoba until the end of 2027 for all holders of the Andalusia Junta 65 Card, both in the green and gold modalities.

The signing of the agreement took place in the Chapter Room of the Mezquita-Cathedral, where the dean-president of the Cathedral Chapter of Córdoba, Joaquín Alberto Nieva, welcomed the attendees to this signing ceremony, including, in addition to the minister, the mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, the Government delegate, Adolfo Molina, the Deputy Minister of Social Inclusion, José Repiso; and the managing director of the Andalusian Agency for Social Services and Dependency (Assda), José Luis Prieto Rivera.

López highlighted the importance of this agreement to improve the accessibility of older people to various services, including cultural and leisure activities, such as the one covered by the agreement signed on Monday. Furthermore, the minister emphasized that «older people are eager to live and have much to contribute, and this agreement reinforces their active participation in society.»

The Minister of Social Inclusion emphasized that more than one million Andalusians have the Andalusia Junta 65 Card, a service that provides quick and easy access to benefits and discounts at over a thousand establishments in the community. Additionally, she explained that the Andalusian government is working on updating the card so that it can be used through a mobile application. Finally, the minister thanked the Cathedral Chapter of Córdoba for their «gratitude, generosity, and commitment» to the elderly in Andalusia by providing them access to a monumental complex declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO through this agreement.

On his part, the dean-president of the Cathedral Chapter of Córdoba noted that this agreement emphasizes a fundamental pillar of the institution, which is universal accessibility, as well as «demonstrates public-private institutional collaboration as an essential axis in our management system, which listens to and takes into account the needs of society.» «The acceptance and successful operation of the Andalusia Junta 65 Card is evidenced by the significant growth in the number of annual visits recorded with this tool over the last three years,» he highlighted. In this regard, he detailed that in 2022, a total of 1,013 visits were recorded, while in 2023, the figure rose to 3,248. In 2024, the upward trend continued, reaching a total of 3,705 visits.

Reservations and ticket purchases for the visit can be made through the website of the Cathedral Chapter-Mezquita of Córdoba by selecting the «Junta+65» option, and presenting the card on the day of the visit accompanied by an ID, NIE, or passport. Currently, the general ticket price for adults is 13 euros, and for people over 65 who are not cardholders, it is 10 euros. Thanks to this agreement, holders of the Andalusia Junta 65 Card can access the monument completely free of charge.
