Today, the councilor attached to the Culture and Festivals department, Macarena Diánez, and the event promoter Rascid Bafraouri, presented the exhibition ‘BODIES, Evolution. Real human bodies’, a highly successful worldwide traveling exhibition where visitors can learn about the complexity and beauty of the human body. It will be open to the public from April 11th to May 11th at the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses.
The municipal representative stated that the main objective of ‘BODIES’ is to help visitors understand how this true perfect machine that is the human body is structured, what organs it has, how they are distributed and function, as well as the harmful effects of unhealthy habits such as smoking, unbalanced diets, or sedentary lifestyle.
Additionally, the councilor highlighted that this exhibition is educational and provides schools with the opportunity to learn about human anatomy, physiology, and health through an exhibition focused on our bodies and modern daily life.
Rascid Bafraouri explained that the bodies on display are preserved using the technique of plastination, created by the German anatomist Gunther Von Hagens, after more than 20 years of work; this being the only technique currently used to preserve a body intact for viewing.
The event promoter also mentioned that the exhibition is divided into different rooms dedicated to the following systems: skeletal, muscular, nervous, circulatory, digestive, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive. Various fetuses at different stages of gestation are also exhibited. The exhibition features specialized guides in all rooms to assist visitors with their questions and concerns.
In addition to human guides, the exhibition includes virtual guides that interact with attendees through LED screens, providing an interactive, entertaining, and recreational experience for both children and adults.
The opening hours are Tuesday to Friday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm for the general public, while educational visits will take place during school hours.
