The Vélez-Málaga City Council, through its Infrastructure Department, has announced the completion of the renovation works on a wide range of sidewalks in Caleta de Vélez, specifically in the area of Colonias del Puerto. These works were carried out in accordance with the Agricultural Employment Promotion Plan (PFEA) for the Infrastructure Area in 2024.
Councillor Jesús María Claros, along with Deputy Mayor Jesús Pérez Atencia and Deputy Mayor of Caleta David Segura, visited the site to mark the completion of this intervention. This project is part of a comprehensive effort to revitalize equipment and infrastructure over the past year and a half, aimed at improving the pavement conditions for the convenience and enjoyment of residents and visitors. Claros emphasized the importance of working in different areas of the municipality to ensure smooth and functional public transit.
Deputy Mayor Jesús Pérez Atencia noted that the project signifies the reorganization, accessibility, and enhancement of the entire Colonias del Puerto complex. He highlighted the efforts to meet the specifications, including accessible sidewalks, green areas with tree planting, and minimal loss of parking spaces. He expressed gratitude for the investment in infrastructure by his colleague Jesús María Claros, emphasizing the commitment to the development of the municipality and the collaboration with residents to enhance the community.
Deputy Mayor David Segura emphasized the commitment to the reorganization, accessibility, and modernization of the entire complex, reflecting the dedication of the team since assuming office in 2015. He praised Jesús María Claros for investing in infrastructure to improve the quality of life for residents. Segura reiterated the group’s commitment to citizen participation and welcomed input for future improvements in sidewalks and other infrastructure projects.

The pavement improvement project in this area of Caleta de Vélez covers an area of 180 m2 and was carried out with a budget of 47,300 euros, involving the hiring of 4 officials and 15 laborers. The initiative was essential due to the deteriorated condition of the pavement, reflecting the local government’s priority in addressing citizens’ needs and ensuring pedestrian safety.
These works on Conjunto Colonias del Puerto VII street are part of an infrastructure recovery initiative managed through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA) in 2024. The total investment in Vélez-Málaga amounts to 720,530 euros, demonstrating the government’s commitment to making the environment more accessible, functional, and safe. Nearly 300 laborers and 56 officials are actively participating in these projects to enhance the safety and accessibility of the city’s roads.
