The City Council has taken a new step to undertake the project of the new municipal stadium by processing the allegations to the concession file of the sports infrastructure. The spokesperson for the local Executive, Félix Romero, after the Local Government Board, has explained that for the City Council «it is a priority to provide the municipality with equipment appropriate to its needs» and has added that the initiative, which will have an investment of 114 million euros, will be awarded in a month and a half and will have a two-year execution period from the start of the works.
The councilor has recalled that «once we detected serious infrastructure deficiencies in the facility, a design competition was carried out, in which it was proposed that the contracting be associated with the Marbella FC Foundation so that it would have a direct relationship with the entity that will use the facility.» «In that process, seven allegations were presented which have been dismissed and from this moment on, the award of the 75-year demesne concession for the project and construction will be published, which will entail an annual fee of more than 220,000 euros that will be received by our administration,» the councilor pointed out.
Romero has emphasized that in the process, a series of criteria established by the City Council «related to our own actions and in the interest of the citizens» will be evaluated. At this point, he stressed that the organization of «major events, number of clinics for city athletes, and availability of hours for municipal services and activities by the concession holder» will be taken into account. «The documentation has already been published on the contractor’s profile and once the award is made, it will also be carried out transparently on the State platform,» he said. The project, «which will change the sports landscape of our city, includes on a 45,000 square meter plot, a stadium for 10,000 spectators, 2,500 square meters of commercial areas, accommodation linked to the stadium’s uses with 84 rooms, and more than a thousand parking spaces,» he detailed.
On the other hand, the Councilor for Urban Planning, José Eduardo Díaz, has provided an overview of his area so far in March, with the approval of building projects and new homes in the municipality amounting to over 42 million euros. Among them, a license for a three-star apart-hotel in Los Altos de Los Monteros, with 122 rooms, with an investment of 21.5 million euros. He also highlighted that in February, a total of 142 responsible declarations were registered. «These are very important data that confirm the incessant activity in this area,» the councilor pointed out.
