Presentación del cartel de la Romería de Torre del Mar

The presentation of the Romería poster in honor of the Virgen del Carmen de Torre del Mar will take place this Friday, April 4th, at the Centro Cultural Nuestra Señora del Carmen Antigua Azucarera.

The first deputy mayor of Vélez-Málaga and deputy mayor of Torre del Mar, Jesús Pérez Atencia; along with Juan Carlos Cubero, president of Peña Círculo 81; and the painter Rafael Díaz Serralvo, held a press conference to announce the presentation of the Romería poster. This event will be dedicated to the painter of the poster, Rafael Díaz Serralvo, and will take place on Friday, April 4th at the Centro Cultural Nuestra Señora del Carmen Antigua Azucarera.

Pérez Atencia stated, «We have called this press conference to inform about the presentation of the Romería poster in Torre del Mar. We believe it is important to dedicate this event exclusively to the artist who will announce our Romería.»

He congratulated Rafael Díaz, highlighting the significance of his work for the Romería. The event will also feature the presentation of the poster by Alejandro Martín Gómez.

Pérez Atencia expressed his hope that the community of Torre del Mar will embrace this event dedicated to the Romería and appreciate the artwork that will announce the departure of the Virgen del Carmen to the countryside.

Juan Carlos Cubero, president of Peña Círculo 81, thanked everyone present at the press conference and emphasized the importance of the forthcoming event. The unveiling of the 43rd Romería poster will take place at the Azucarera de Torre del Mar, although it corresponds to the 45th edition due to exceptional circumstances in previous years.

The poster will be unveiled by its author, Rafael Díaz Serralvo, who will play a significant role in the evening. Cubero highlighted the importance of the poster as a fundamental part of their tradition.

During the event, several key appointments for this year’s Romería will be announced. Andrea Pérez Ranea has been appointed as the next camarera of the Virgen, recognizing her devotion and commitment to the celebration. María del Mar Gómez Quijano, known as ‘Mari Kiki’, will serve as the pregonera, with a distinguished background in dance groups and cultural events in Torre del Mar.

Additionally, the change of the Carreta mayor, responsible for organizing the transfer of the Virgen to the Olivar, will be presented. This role is crucial for ensuring the Romería proceeds with devotion and joy.

Cubero concluded by expressing his gratitude to all attendees and inviting them to join the presentation of the Romería poster on Friday, April 4th, at 9:00 PM. He emphasized the special nature of the event and the recognition of those who contribute to the success of the celebration year after year. Further details about the image transfer and other planned activities will be announced soon.
