Mijas regains its status as the host of the eighth edition of Club Series Golf, a benchmark at the amateur level

- For the second year, the municipality’s name is present in all tournaments of the circuit that will cover eleven fields across the national territory
Mijas, April 9, 2025.- The Mijas City Council once again bets on golf as a way to promote the municipality at a tourist level. The municipality will host the Club Series Golf, as it will host one of the trials in addition to the national grand final. This event has become the benchmark for amateur golf at the national level
This was announced by the mayor of the municipality, Ana Mata, who explained that in this way the municipality will become a focal point for golf enthusiasts. Club Series Golf Unicaja ‘Race to Mijas’, sponsored by the Mijas City Council, consists of a regular phase of eleven tournaments taking place in Seville (March 22), Almería (April 5), Cáceres (May 10), Toledo (May 31), Gijón (June 19), Santander (June 21), Cádiz (July 19), Mijas (August 23), Marbella (September 13), Madrid (October 2) and Salamanca (October 18), as well as the final which Mijas will also host and will welcome the finalists of each of the tournaments in this regular phase, which will take place on November 29. All this involves a total of over 1,500 participants.
Mijas, as the host of the Club Series Golf Final, is present in all the circuit’s tournaments, not only through advertising on the golf courses themselves and event communication, but also in its special prize ‘Race to Mijas’, which rewards the «scratch» winner in each of the tournaments. The winners of this prize will attend the National Final, like the rest of the finalists, and will play the Guest Tournament to be held in Mijas.
From November 28 to 30, the National Final will be held in Mijas, including two nights of accommodation at La Zambra Resort, for each finalist and their companion, and the competition day at Mijas Golf Los Lagos. The event’s closure will take place at La Zambra Resort with a cocktail-dinner, awards ceremony, and a final party.
«The golf segment is absolutely strategic for Mijas. Not only because of the number of courses but also because of their quality and layouts, characteristics that position us in a very privileged place to attract a visitor who brings great benefits to our municipality. For all these reasons, we will continue to bet on this sector as we have been doing so far,» explained the mayor.
Mata recalled that the Costa del Sol stands out as a benchmark in the world of golf, with over 70 courses making it the destination in continental Europe with the highest concentration of courses. Mijas accounts for over 17%, being the second municipality with the highest offer.
On the other hand, Alfonso Castro, director of Club Series, wanted to highlight Mijas’ commitment to the golf segment in general and to this circuit in particular, which he described as «the best amateur golf circuit in Spain»: «The image of Mijas as a top golf destination has been strengthened, as the name of Mijas holds a priority position throughout the national territory”.

Talking about golf means talking about quality tourism, differentiated offer, and commitment, and Mijas is a reference destination in this sport and a key player in what is known as the ‘Costa del Golf’, with a total of 12 courses that make it the second municipality with the highest concentration of these sports facilities.
In the Costa del Sol, the sector generates around 1.4 billion euros in economic impact and 17,700 jobs. In addition, the average spending of golf tourists in Mijas has increased from €120 per day to over €200. Furthermore, the municipality leads in golf tourism packages.
