Vélez-Málaga continúa con la geolocalización de tronos de Semana Santa

The first deputy mayor of the municipality of Vélez-Málaga and councilor of Tourism, Jesús Pérez Atencia; along with the councilor of New Technologies, David Segura, have announced on Friday morning the continuation of the initiative launched last year that will allow, through a website, to geolocate the different thrones of Holy Week in their processional route.

Pérez Atencia pointed out that «we are convening this press conference from the Tourism department to inform about an important novelty that we already implemented last year and that is still active in 2025 during the upcoming Holy Week. It is a real-time geolocation service of the thrones that can be consulted on a website that we have specifically built to provide this service.»

This service, continued Atencia, «provides timely information that allows knowing the exact street and point where the throne is located, making it easier for everyone to see it at a specific point. From the Tourism department, and for several years now, we have been working with the New Technologies department, first with Juan Carlos Muñoz and now with David Segura, to improve information and communication with our neighbors and also with visitors.»

The councilor stated, «I hope that this tool is useful for everyone and can be used during Holy Week. This information can be accessed on the website: semanasanta.velezmalaga.es. Vélez-Málaga has a great brotherhood heritage, one of the richest in Andalusia, and it is our obligation to provide information about it and also about its different processions.»

The councilor of New Technologies, David Segura, reported that «it is an honor for me, in my capacity as Councilor of New Technologies, to continue this technological advancement in our beloved Vélez-Málaga. Last year, in an unprecedented collaboration between the New Technologies department and the Brotherhood Association of Vélez-Málaga, we managed to implement an innovative project that has enriched the experience of Holy Week in our city.»

Segura highlighted that «thanks to the latest technological advances and close collaboration with the Brotherhood Association of Vélez-Málaga, we have developed an innovative system that allows users to follow the processional route of the thrones in real-time through the web platform. This feature will not only provide updated information on the location of the thrones but will also allow for more active participation and a deeper connection with this deeply rooted tradition in our municipality.»

«From the New Technologies department, we commit to continue promoting initiatives that maximize the potential of technology to enrich the lives of our citizens and promote the sustainable development of our city,» emphasized the councilor.
