El 91,98% de estudiantes andaluces aprueba la PAU

Jóvenes estudiantes repasan sus apuntes antes de la PAU.

The 91.98% of Andalusian students who have taken the Access Phase of the University Entrance Exam (PAU) have passed, which represents 38,013 students out of a total of 41,327 examined students in this mandatory part, according to the data provided by the Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation. This percentage is lower than the 96.86% from 2024, due to the substantial changes incorporated in the new evaluation model applied this year, which introduces a format with less optional questions and more weight on competency-based questions. In any case, the pass rate recorded this year corresponds to the levels reached in the pre-stage.

Breaking it down by gender, out of the 23,402 women who have taken this phase, a total of 21,441 have passed, representing a 91.62% success rate, while in the case of men, 16,572 out of 17,925 who took the exam achieved a satisfactory result, equivalent to a 92.45% success rate.

The highest grade was a 10 achieved by a student in the province of Málaga. This is the maximum score students can achieve in the Access Phase, although it can be complemented with four additional points obtained in the Admission Phase, based on the grade obtained in these exams and the weighting applied, depending on the degree of affinity with the requested degree. The next best grades were a 9.99 achieved by a student from Málaga, a 9.985 obtained by a student from Granada, a 9.975 reached by three students (one from Málaga, one from Huelva, and one from Seville), a 9.966 recorded by a student from Jaén, a 9.964 by a student from Córdoba, a 9.954 by a person from Seville, and a 9.95 achieved by nine students (one from Almería, two from Cádiz, two from Córdoba, two from Seville, and two from Málaga).

By universities, the University of Almería had a 91.05% pass rate, with 2,939 out of 3,228 students passing the exam, the University of Cádiz achieved a percentage of 92.75%, with 5,592 out of 6,029 students passing. The number of students passing at the University of Córdoba was 3,525 out of 3,791, representing a 92.98% success rate, students passing at the University of Granada totaled 5,161, a 91.06% of those examined, at the University of Huelva it was 1,800 out of 2,070, i.e., 87%, and at the University of Jaén, the rate was 92.54%, translating to 2,718 students out of 2,937.

On the other hand, the University of Málaga had a 92.56% pass rate, equivalent to 7,019 out of 7,583 students, the Pablo de Olavide University (Seville) reported a pass rate of 93.66%, with 1,211 out of 1,293 students achieving satisfactory results, and at the University of Seville, the rate was 92.21%, indicating that 8,048 out of 8,728 students passed.

In this ordinary call for the PAU, a total of 8,744 students also took the Admission Phase, which is voluntary for grade improvement. In this case, they could be examined in up to four disciplines, but only the grades of the two most favorable for the chosen degrees are taken into account, weighing between 0 and 0.2, depending on the level of affinity to future university studies. The maximum score to be achieved in this phase is four points.

Start of the pre-registration phase

Once the results are known, on this same 12th of June the period for submitting applications for access to degrees at Andalusian public universities has opened, a period that will end on the 23rd of June.

To participate in the admission process, the Commission of the Unique University District of Andalusia advises all students to submit a pre-registration application, even if they are suspended, in anticipation of passing the test after the necessary reviews.

As this is a competitive concurrence procedure, in which applications cannot be included outside the established deadline, the software through which the application is submitted allows for entering a grade below five points, which will be automatically updated when the university issues a new grade, and if this is equal to or higher than five points, the application will be considered in the process with all rights.

As in previous years, access pre-registration to the university will be done exclusively online on the website of the Unique Andalusian District. On this platform, those who have taken the exams at an Andalusian university do not need to submit any documentation to their academic institutions.

The first allocation of places will take place on July 3rd. On that day, the enrollment period, confirmation, or reservation will begin, lasting for seven days, until July 9th. The second allocation will occur on July 17th and will last until October 10th.

To facilitate the selection of degrees, the cut-off grades from previous years can be consulted, available on the Unique Andalusian District website, for purely informative or indicative purposes. The universities do not set the cut-off grades, they correspond to the grade of the last student enrolled in each degree, university, and access route, and may vary from one academic year to another.

Applicants are bound by the order of preference established in the application, so that when the allocation is made, they will be assigned the place corresponding to the preferred degree and center where they are admitted based on their grade.

Job placement survey to guide selection

The Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation has made available to students starting university next year the most relevant data from a report prepared by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA) on the subjects with the best job prospects and the level of job placement of graduates from academic institutions.

This information is available through the website of the Unique Andalusian District. This measure aims to provide young university students with relevant information to help them decide on which major to enroll in.
