Mijas, June 25, 2025.- The municipality of Mijas will once again show its most charitable side with the celebration of a charity golf tournament in support of the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC), which will take place on Saturday, July 12 starting at 9:00 a.m. on the Asia course at La Cala Resort. The event, to be played in Stableford format, has the collaboration of the Mijas and Fuengirola city councils, as well as numerous businesses and private entities.

Robert Mitchell, the manager of Mijas Golf, has expressed gratitude for the involvement of all individuals, companies, and institutions that have made this event possible: “It will be a great day for golf, with prizes for everyone, and a day of camaraderie where we hope to exceed 100 participants.”

One of the highlights of the tournament is a large charity auction, featuring unique items such as a signed 3-wood by Sergio García and a wedge by Carlota Ciganda. Additionally, there is an option to register for the charity lunch for those who wish to contribute without participating in the game.

The funds raised will be fully allocated to maintaining the services that the AECC provides to cancer patients and their families. “We are talking about psychological support, social assistance, emotional and physical well-being workshops… all free for those in need,” explained organization representative Belén Conejo, who specifically thanked Silvia Barrionuevo for her commitment to launching the tournament.

From the Mijas City Council, Tourism Councillor Francisco Jerez emphasized the importance of joining forces for causes that unite society: “The fight against cancer unites us all, without distinctions or ideologies. From the Mijas City Council, we understand that supporting the Spanish Association against Cancer is supporting hundreds of families, in Mijas and throughout Spain, who need hope, care, and resources. We will always stand by those working for the common good.”

The Fuengirola City Council has also expressed institutional support for this charitable initiative, demonstrating its commitment to the work carried out by the AECC and highlighting the importance of supporting such causes from all sectors.

Thus, Jerez confirmed that the Mijas council will be present at the tournament, showing unwavering support. “We are very proud to be part of this charitable initiative, which demonstrates the power of collaboration between institutions, businesses, and citizens,” he concluded.
