The Ministry of Development, territorial articulation, and housing enabled a parking lot to compensate for the squares eliminated during the construction of line 3 to the north of the Sevilla metro, as it passes through the neighborhood of Pino Montano. A 280-space parking lot was developed near a plot granted by the City Council on Farmers Street, very close to the North District.
Minister of Development, Rocío Díaz, stated that with this parking lot, they aim to mitigate the discomfort experienced by the residents of Pino Montano due to the construction works of line 3 of the Sevilla metro. «I have created a parking lot with multiple spaces planned for removal, so the work affects the neighborhood as little as possible,» she added.
The works carried out so far have involved the elimination of parking spaces. However, now, with the works in progress, during the installation of the screens, 220 spaces will be removed simultaneously. The solution, agreed upon between the Andalusian government and the local council, involves using a municipal property plot between Farmers Street, Estrella Regulus, Sirius, and Procyon. Due to its surface area (7,000 square meters) and its location in the heart of Pino Montano.
The Ministry of Development has paved this plot with Earth asphalt, painted the spaces, placed steel, and implemented drainage works to prevent flooding during the rainy season. Additionally, the city of Sevilla has taken charge of installing a lighting system.
In addition to this parking lot and regular meetings with different groups and associations, the Ministry of Development is actively present in the neighborhood of Pino Montano with a citizen service office to address any questions regarding the works on line 3. The office will be located at the North District headquarters on Star Procyon Street and will operate from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
The Andalusian government has already awarded 63% of the works on line 3 to the north between Pino Montano and Prado de San Sebastián. The technical branch is completed, with two sections currently under construction: The section passing through Pino Montano, which involves the installation of tunnel screens and the construction of the North Pino Montano station, and the section running parallel to the northern urban ring towards San Lázaro, where development and replacement of affected services are being carried out. Recently, the third section has been awarded, from the start of Doctor Fedrian to the junction with the historical ring passing by the Macarena Hospital, which is the most expensive section of the line, costing 180 million euros including works and optional management.
The North 3 line, declared a strategic operation for the period 2021-2027, spans 8.9 kilometers (including the technical branch) and will connect Pino Montano to Prado de San Sebastián in 18 minutes, with key stops at four health centers, such as the San Lázaro Hospital, the Virgen Macarena University, Victoria Eugenia of the Red Cross, and the Specialized Center of María Auxiliadora. The population served by this line is estimated at 120,000 inhabitants, with a projected 17 million users per year.
