· «After years of struggle and neglect by the previous government, the City Council has negotiated a new agreement that establishes an equal performance measurement system,» the mayor emphasized.
· The agreement responds to the demand of the workers, mostly women, in the cleaning department, who could not receive productivity bonuses while the rest of their colleagues could, due to a previous agreement that was detrimental to them.
The Mayor of Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara, accompanied by the CEO of Provise Benamiel SL, José Miguel Muriel, announced that an agreement has been reached and signed to address the wage inequality situation affecting the cleaning workers of the municipal society, predominantly women, who had been fighting to receive their productivity bonus since the service was municipalized in 2019.
“After years of struggle and neglect by the previous government, the City Council has negotiated a new agreement that establishes an equal performance measurement system,» the mayor emphasized. The agreement, which will come into effect on July 1, ensures that all cleaning workers at Provise have the same rights and benefits as their colleagues.
Juan Antonio Lara highlighted that ‘this is a government that fulfills its commitments and is committed to social issues and equality.’ Resolving this issue is «an important step towards justice and equality for all Provise workers,» he added.
Regarding the details of the agreement, it stands out for achieving a performance measurement system with equal principles that are not dependent on job diversity, it will be the same system for the entire company, «avoiding systems that harbor underlying discriminations,» the agreement establishes.
Therefore, employees with part-time work schedules will receive productivity bonuses in proportion to their actual working hours. As for the amounts not earned by the workers, the agreement signed by the mayor states that they should be distributed monthly among those workers who are entitled to 100% of the productivity for that reference month.
