The deadline for submitting applications began yesterday, Monday, June 16, and will continue until July 4. All children aged 4 to 7, the most in-demand segment, who submit their form in June will have direct access to the educational center. It is estimated that around 400 new students will enroll.
This official training forum allows students to start their musical education at a very young age, initially with introductory teachings focused on basic concepts and movement, and later with specialties such as ballet and Spanish classical dance, choir, wind instruments, flamenco guitar, violin, or modern music instruments, among others.

The Municipal School of Music and Dance in Vélez-Málaga has announced the opening of the application period for enrollment in the educational center. Those interested in participating in the academic calendar for 2025-26 must fill out their application from June 16 to July 4, as reported by the Education Councilor of the Vélez-Málaga City Council, Lourdes Piña.
In a press conference held this morning at the Town Hall, the councilor informed about the start of enrollment in a pedagogical space authorized by the Junta de Andalucía, which provides elementary education to children from 4 years old, with various artistic and instrumental modalities that offer a broad and diversified education. Piña highlighted that one of the important innovations in the registration process for the next academic year is that, as this is the only space approved by the Junta de Andalucía to teach children aged 4 to 7, and due to the high demand, enrollment will be allowed for all those who submit their application in June. In September, there will be a period where enrollment will be open only to fill the remaining available spots.
The councilor emphasized the «excellent work» carried out by the teaching community of the School of Music and Dance in Vélez-Málaga, made up of professionals who provide dedicated technical and human-oriented education, instilling values and new sensitivities related to music in children and adolescents, which is a differential element in the development of young individuals towards adulthood.
Piña also commented on the wide range of disciplines offered at the educational center, aimed at a wide age range, preparing students for access to professional music and dance studies, in addition to offering them the opportunity to participate in various ensemble activities such as the symphony orchestra, dance groups, student choirs, and modern music combos.
Following the enrollment process for 2025-26, students aged 4 and 5 can enroll in the Music and Movement subject, which provides an initial approach to music and dance, serving as the starting point to develop their musical and motor skills. With ages 6 and 7, they can choose subjects like Introduction to Music or Dance, where they will participate in instrumental workshops with rhythmic stimulation exercises and preparatory courses for elementary music and dance education.
One of the interesting alternatives, in which the School of Music and Dance in Vélez-Málaga has showcased its talent on numerous occasions, is the Symphony Orchestra, which serves as an ideal platform for students who complete their studies at the School of Music or the «José Hidalgo» Conservatory in our municipality to continue their training in an advanced level orchestral ensemble, providing them with the opportunity to participate in various concerts organized by the center, according to the Education Councilor. Moving on to older ages, students aged 8 and above can access advanced specialties with great interest and projection, such as ballet and Spanish classical dance, choir, wind instruments, piano, percussion, flamenco guitar, violin, viola, cello, and modern music instruments like drums, bass, or electric guitar.
It is estimated that around 400 students will enroll. Those who wish to be part of the upcoming academic calendar of the Municipal School of Music and Dance can request more information from the Department of Education through the Town Hall’s website (www.velezmalaga.es), by phone at 661 910 048, or via email at escuelamusica@velezmalaga.es.
