The City Council will open the deadline for applications for school and university transportation on August 4, with 700 spots available for the 14 existing routes between both cases (11 and 3, respectively). Municipal spokesperson, Félix Romero, has reported, following the Local Government Board, that municipal rates can lead to savings of up to 3,900 euros for a family of three children for the entire school year, 1,300 euros for each of them, regarding transfers to the Málaga campus. «Furthermore, they are given the possibility to maintain their residence in Marbella without having to pay rent and cover other costs,» highlighted the councilor. In this regard, he pointed out that the service fee is 640 euros (one child), 861 euros (2 children), and 1,280 euros (3 children), while for the fleet going to schools, there are two options, depending on whether they are in the urban area (321, 481, and 642 euros, respectively) or in the periphery (255, 375, and 510 euros).
Interested individuals can submit their applications at the Citizen Service Offices, the municipal website, and the Arco de Marbella (where the Transport delegation offices are located). There will also be a phone line available for applicants, as announced by the councilor. Additionally, he noted that «one of the improvements we have introduced in recent years is that citizens can set up direct debit payments, as we have automated the process.» On another note, this morning, it was reported that the reinforcement process of signage with informative plaques will begin next week with the first phase to inform the public about restricted areas in low emission zones.
«Until the definitive implementation is established with an ordinance, this action does not entail fines but rather communication from the agents and the City Council for voluntary compliance by users,» Romero pointed out. The councilor detailed that the installation will start at the entrance of Calle Benalmádena and Plaza Juan de la Rosa and Huerta Chica. In a second phase, plaques will be placed at the entrances of Calles San Francisco, Postigo, and Atarazanas, the exit street of the parking lot, and the connection of Postigo with Juan Alameda. Finally, in the third phase, reinforcement will be carried out in the castle surroundings.
In other news, a notification was also issued regarding the informative campaign activated by Social Rights, providing tips to mitigate the effects of high temperatures among vulnerable groups, especially the elderly. This is done through the Faro program, in collaboration with Marbella Voluntaria, Active Participation Centers, and home care services.
