Avances en obras de saneamiento y abastecimiento en Costabella

The works to provide regulated sanitation and water supply to the Costabella urbanization have reached 85 percent completion. The councilor in charge, Diego López, has visited the works, which are expected to be finished by the end of August, pending finishing touches, signage, and painting works. He mentioned that the project includes the paving of about twenty streets and the connections to the 350 existing homes in the area. Additionally, he explained that this intervention has a budget of over 4 million euros and is funded by the Marbella City Council, Acosol, and the community of property owners. The councilor stated that the intervention «means that the residents of this enclave will improve their quality of life by having their pipelines in good condition, avoiding bad odors and water leaks as before, and also gaining legal security by now being able to have licenses and permits to carry out any type of renovation in their homes, something that was not possible before.»

Likewise, he mentioned that «the work on the new pipelines and the paving of the affected roads and passages (Munich, West Berlin, East Berlin, Alleys, Playa Hermosa, Andalusia, Holland, Seville, Granada, Cervantes, Madrid, Scandinavia, Antwerp, Costa del Sol, Progress, Justice, East Frankfurt, and West Frankfurt) has already been completed, except for Costanera Avenue.» He also specified that «the painting and signage of all roads are yet to be completed» and clarified that, upon completion of the work, «20,870 square meters of 3.25 kilometers of roads will have been paved, in addition to laying down 7.8 kilometers of sewage and rainwater pipes, and 4.6 kilometers of water supply pipes, and providing the entire urbanization and its 350 houses with a new telephone and public lighting network.»

Furthermore, he noted that this intervention, affected by heavy rainfall, «required the demolition of all pavement, excavation of trenches for the new pipelines, home connections, and paving of the entire surface, which includes nearly 22,000 square meters of asphalted area and concrete and cobblestone sidewalks.» The councilor emphasized that this urbanization joins Hacienda Las Chapas and El Rosario, where similar actions have already been carried out, and stated that «we will now continue addressing other areas of the municipality that also have the issues that these had.» Finally, he recalled that «all these residents had problems with blockages in their homes dating back to the 1960s, with fecal water leaks, a drainage system unable to handle rainwater, and a water supply with minimal pressure, in addition to constant leaks.»
