The Benalmádena Municipal Council will request a total of 19,500,502.87 euros in the upcoming European appeal for Integrated Action Plans (PAI) for local entities, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (Feder). This initiative was announced by the Mayor of Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara, who presented the proposals of the municipal opposition groups as a preliminary step before a public presentation to the Benalmadense community scheduled for next Saturday at 12 o’clock at the Culture Chamber. These projects will soon be submitted for approval.
Benalmádena will seek funding from Europe for a total of 12 actions that have been promoted since the beginning of the term, signaling a new investment package for the city. These actions include the revitalization of the Carranque neighborhood, the reordering of Mercury Street with the inclusive culture design of Manuel Estepa, the renovation of the Luz kindergarten, and the rehabilitation and expansion of the facilities at the Arroyo sports complex. Other projects include the functional adaptation of the Carola III Social Center, the enhancement of cultural identity in the central streets of Honey Arroyo, and the redesign of green areas in Jesús, among others.
The Mayor emphasized that these initiatives aim to improve the economic, environmental, and social aspects of the city, aligning with sustainable urban development goals. He highlighted the transformative impact these funds could have on Benalmádena and encouraged active participation from citizens in the process.
The projects presented to Europe were developed by the municipal delegation for European funds under the leadership of Mayor Aurea Peralta. These initiatives cover various sectors such as buildings, roads, urban planning, tourism, culture, sports, education, and commerce, reflecting a comprehensive approach to urban revitalization.
The revitalization of the Arroyo de la Miel area and the conversion of a neglected space into a sustainable urban park, as well as the renovation of the Luz kindergarten, are among the key projects that will benefit from this funding. Additionally, investments in the Arroyo del Honey sports complex aim to improve existing facilities and enhance sports infrastructure.
Overall, these projects represent a significant opportunity for Benalmádena to modernize and enhance its urban landscape, creating a more vibrant and sustainable city for its residents and visitors alike. The Mayor reiterated the importance of community engagement in realizing these initiatives and invited citizens to participate in the presentation at the Culture Chamber to support the city’s efforts to secure these funds.
