Balance de incidencias en playas durante la primera quincena de junio

The City Council, through the Beach Lifeguard and Surveillance Service, has taken stock of the incidents recorded on the coastline during the first half of June, a period in which a total of 678 actions have been counted, distributed among interventions related to municipal regulations, lifeguarding, medical assistance, and the use of rescue boats. Violations of municipal regulations account for the highest number of interventions, with 238 cases, representing 35.1 percent of the total. The most common reason has been the presence of dogs in unauthorized areas, with 94 cases, followed by unauthorized water sports activities such as paragliding, kitesurfing, or windsurfing, with 41 incidents. There were also 62 cases of leaving debris on the sand, as well as other infractions such as swimming in navigation areas, fishing outside permitted hours, barbecues, and camping.

In terms of lifeguarding, there have been 220 actions recorded, mostly of a preventive nature. Among them, 106 warnings were issued for yellow flag conditions, 34 for the presence of boats near bathing areas, and 29 direct warnings to users. Additionally, 7 minor water rescues were carried out, with no serious incidents reported. Regarding medical assistance, lifeguards attended to 110 individuals, with the most common causes being wounds and burns (56 cases), followed by jellyfish stings (8), spider fish stings (4), and other minor incidents like fainting, heat strokes, sea urchin stings, and minor bruises. Ambulance assistance was required on seven occasions, with four cases needing hospital transfer.

Finally, there were 110 actions involving rescue boats, dedicated to surveillance and prevention tasks, without any serious incidents reported. «The coordination between land and sea teams has been key to ensuring safety along the entire coastline,» noted the councilor in charge, Diego López, who praised the progress made during these first weeks of the summer season and called on the public to promote responsible beach use.
