Diez detenidos en Mijas confirman la eficaz respuesta de la Policía Local ante la delincuencia

Mijas, May 7, 2025.- The Local Police of Mijas has made ten arrests in the past week in various operations against serious crimes such as burglary, assaults on officers, reckless driving, or home invasion. The interventions have taken place in different areas of the municipality, reinforcing the commitment of the force to the security and well-being of all residents, without exception.

The Councilor for Security, Juan Carlos Cuevas, has explained that this volume of arrests in just seven days «demonstrates the operational capacity of a staff that is responding firmly and effectively to any security threat, acting with the same determination in all areas of Mijas.»

Among the most notable actions is the arrest, last Saturday, of a drunk driver who hit and threatened the officers after fleeing the scene of an accident on Miguel Hernández Avenue, in Las Lagunas. The individual was intercepted after a pursuit and arrested as the alleged perpetrator of an offense against authority.

Also in Las Lagunas, early Thursday morning, a man with numerous prior offenses was arrested for stealing from several vehicles whose windows he had broken. The intervention was possible thanks to a neighbor’s alert and the quick response of the officers in the area of Camino Viejo de Coín.

On the other hand, in Playamarina, three women were arrested on Friday after entering a residence and stealing various valuable items. The alleged perpetrators were detained by the security personnel of the urbanization and handed over to the Local Police upon their arrival.

«These types of actions are a demonstration of the constant work we carry out from the City Council to improve the security of all residents, regardless of where they live. The Local Police is, and will be, present throughout the municipality,» Cuevas emphasized.

The councilor reiterated that the objective is to maintain an active and balanced police presence in all areas, with both preventive patrols and rapid response, and thanked citizen collaboration in many of these cases: «Security is everyone’s responsibility, and having neighbors who alert and trust their police allows us to act more effectively.»
