El alcalde de Vélez-Málaga recibe a agentes de Policía Local para formación especializada en Tráfico y Seguridad Vial

A group of agents from the Local Police of Vélez-Málaga was received by the mayor before starting specialized training at the Traffic School of the Civil Guard in Mérida. The courses, focused on topics such as command and direction in traffic units, control of the transport of dangerous goods, drug detection, and investigation of road accidents, reflect the commitment of the City Council to improving road safety and the professionalization of its police force.

This action is part of a global strategy to strengthen the citizen security service, which will include the incorporation of eleven new agents currently in training, with the aim of ensuring greater coverage in all areas of the municipality.

The mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Jesús Lupiáñez , received a group of agents from the Local Police of the municipality who have been selected to participate in specialized training in traffic, road safety, and transportation, organized by the Traffic School of the Civil Guard, based in Mérida.

These are face-to-face courses aimed at personnel outside the Civil Guard, which aim to provide agents with advanced knowledge in key areas for road safety, accident prevention, and transport control. The local police officers from Vélez-Málaga will be part of different high-level training programs, such as the Command and Direction in Traffic Units course, the Inspection and Control of Dangerous Goods Transport course, the Specific course for Drug Detection, and the Road Accident Investigation course.

During the meeting, the mayor wanted to personally convey his support and recognition to the agents, highlighting the importance of this training to continue advancing in the professionalization of the Local Police force and in the constant improvement of citizen attention. «It is a pride that our agents can access this type of specialized training, imparted by such a prestigious institution as the Civil Guard. Investing in a more prepared police force is investing in a safer city and a more efficient and closer public service,» Lupiáñez said.

The presence of the Local Police of Vélez-Málaga in these courses reflects the commitment of the Government team to improving road safety and the technical preparation of the agents, at a time when mobility, transport control, and accident investigation require increasing professional qualification.

Strengthening the workforce

The Vélez-Málaga City Council considers it essential to continue progressively expanding the Local Police force to meet the real needs of the municipality, which has multiple urban areas and a significant territorial extension.

In this line, eleven new agents are completing their training at the Andalusian Emergency and Public Safety Institute (IESPA) in Seville, and will soon join the force, thus reinforcing the number of personnel and allowing greater operational coverage, more presence on the streets, and a more agile and effective response to any situation.

This reinforcement is part of a clear strategy of the municipal Government: to improve the resources of the Local Police to guarantee the security, coexistence, and well-being of all the residents of Vélez-Málaga.
