The City Council continues for another year with the training of young people through free workshops in Gardening, Electricity, Plumbing, and Masonry. Annually, the City Council trains nearly fifty students in one of these professions that are in high demand today.
The councilor attached to the delegation of Social Services and Social Integration, María Aguilar, has welcomed today the 16 students who have completed the latest edition of this training program and has also welcomed the students of the first call of 2025.
The municipal official has highlighted the great success that these workshops have among local companies, which increasingly demand the hiring of these young people who attend our workshops due to the level of preparation they have upon completing their training.
Likewise, she has valued the important insertion work carried out through this initiative since it offers the opportunity to learn a profession with a future and an opportunity to access the job market for young people between 16 and 24 years old who have not completed training cycles or are unemployed.
During the year, three editions of these workshops are offered, each of which lasts for three months. During this period, students receive 250 hours of training, both theoretical and practical. The latter is carried out in the concessionaire companies of the different municipal services, an initiative that allows students to get in touch with the working world and learn how to solve the incidents and real situations that usually arise in the performance of their profession. Furthermore, they expand their knowledge by carrying out social work, carrying out actions in the headquarters of local associations, always supervised by a professional.
Also, students taking the Gardening workshop are instructed in the application of phytosanitary products, an essential title to work in this profession. The learning is complemented with information and guidance for job search and informative talks on drug prevention, occupational hazards, and home fires; as well as recreational and sports activities.
Those interested in participating in these workshops must pick up their application at the municipal delegation of Social Services, located at 31 San Lorenzo Avenue, and submit it completed at the Town Hall’s Entry Registry.
