El Ayuntamiento de Mijas emite un bando sobre mantenimiento de fachadas y exteriores de edificios.

The Mijas City Council issues a decree reminding about the maintenance and cleaning of facades and exteriors of buildings

March 18, 2025

  • This is stated in Article 17 of the Municipal Ordinance on Coexistence and Citizen Security
  • The decree also mentions that the installation and exhibition of clothes racks in the public thoroughfare should be avoided

Mijas, March 18, 2025.- The Mijas City Council has issued a decree reminding land and building owners of the need to «maintain facades in conditions of safety, health, public aesthetics, and decorum, carrying out cleaning and painting work, as well as the necessary works to preserve or rehabilitate them.» The document also states that «the installation and exhibition of clothes racks in the public thoroughfare should be avoided, carrying out permanent and continuous maintenance of all elements present on the facades and all exterior parts of the building that are visible to users.»

It is worth noting that the content of this decree originates from Article 17 of the Municipal Ordinance on Coexistence and Citizen Security (Official Gazette no. 109 of 06/10/2013), which explicitly states that «owners of land, constructions, and buildings must maintain them in conditions of safety, health, and public aesthetics.»

In this sense, the decree emphasizes the need for proper cleaning of private lots and lands to prevent fires in them and in nearby buildings.

It should not be forgotten that the historic center of Mijas was declared a Historic-Artistic Site on June 24, 1969, becoming the second municipality in Malaga to receive this designation after Ronda. The text published in the Official State Gazette indicated that the fundamental importance of Mijas «currently lies in its refined characteristics of an Andalusian village and its privileged location.»

With the publication of this decree, which is available for consultation on the municipal website, the idea of safeguarding the uniqueness of the municipality is reinforced, although it is true that its application applies to the entire locality and not just Mijas Pueblo.
