El Ayuntamiento de Vélez-Málaga mejora el MVVEL con un toldo y otras mejoras esenciales

The Council has carried out a series of crucial interventions to condition this outstanding scenic environment to offer the extensive program orchestrated by the Municipal Delegation of Culture. In this way, the multiple proposals, of an artistic or musical nature, planned in the complete schedule of the summer period, with jazz concerts, guitar performances, and other shows, can be developed.

Among the actions undertaken, the installation of a divided awning in four sections with a surface area of 105 square meters stands out, with the aim of eliminating solar radiation and improving the conditions of use of the place. In addition, the insertion of doors and tempered glass partitions, a separator through a curtain in the ecclesiastical area of the auditorium, and the inclusion of handrails at the entrance to the chapel have been carried out.

In total, an amount of around 22,800 euros has been used in the execution of the works, a further demonstration of the local Government’s commitment to the dynamization of culture and the enhancement of our unique environments for the benefit of the citizens.

One of the essential proposals promoted within the framework of the Culture Council’s actions involves providing expedited, original, and diverse content and approaches to our scenic spaces and exhibition halls, which are abundant in our municipality and constitute the backbone of the cultural initiative promoted by the Delegation. In the summer months, this initiative is characterized by an interesting and abundant schedule of events featuring various artistic and musical expressions, as well as surprising routes through the magical corners of the monumental environment of Vélez-Málaga, of incalculable value, which gives our Historic Center a distinction and vitality that generates a powerful magnetism for residents and visitors, especially in the evening itineraries organized by the Council in «Discover Vélez» or the «Monumental Vélez,» a beautiful journey on the Theatricalized Tourist Train.

To carry out this chapter of activities, the full availability of our cultural venues to host the myriad of proposals issued by the Area and the Velez-Malaga City Council is essential. In this multicultural meeting, an ambitious and careful selection of shows has been made in our halls, such as MVVEL, the «Francisco Hernández» Contemporary Art Center, or the convent hall of San Francisco. In the former, work has been done in recent months on its conditioning and renovation, of a space located in the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

This morning, the Councilor for Culture, Alicia Ramírez, and the Councilor for Municipal Buildings, Jesús María Claros, have visited the Vélez-Málaga Museum to inform about the various details of the interventions carried out to present a stage in full conditions for use and enjoyment by residents and visitors.

«We, from the Culture Council, always bet on a wide range of activities and initiatives, especially in the summer, we have a program for all ages and tastes with jazz concerts, guitar evenings, flamenco shows, and many more options. However, we must ensure that the places that host each of these ideas have the ideal conditions for our users, which is why today we present the improvements made in this enclave,» explained the responsible for the Culture Delegation, Alicia Ramírez. As one of the implemented measures, she announced the installation of an awning in the central courtyard of the complex, which will bring a noticeable improvement in combating high temperatures, as it provides essential shade during the summer months. It will also have a positive impact on providing coverage against adverse weather conditions such as rainfall.

In this regard, the responsible councilor expressed satisfaction with the actions carried out at the MVVEL, which represents «another example of the firm commitment of this Council and the Vélez-Málaga City Council to condition our cultural spaces with the necessary advances and modifications to keep them in optimal condition for the organization of the events and activities we have scheduled every quarter, and to which I invite, once again, all our residents and those who wish to come from outside, as we have the best settings to host an important lineup of initiatives,» reinforced Ramírez.

Regarding the breakdown of improvements, Jesús María Claros, delegate of Municipal Buildings, listed works that have a significant impact on the cultural space, such as «the installation of doors and tempered glass partitions, which will counteract the discomfort of air currents by openings in the main entrance.» Likewise, a curtain separator has been added to the ecclesiastical area of the auditorium, as well as the installation of the aforementioned awning divided into four sections with a surface area of 105 square meters, in order to «eliminate solar radiation and improve the conditions of use of the place for the various activities.» In addition, handrails have been included at the entrance to the chapel. In total, an amount of around 22,800 euros has been used in the execution of the works.

These series of measures, developed by the Council of Municipal Buildings, allow for a splendid location for the numerous cultural proposals hosted by the MVVEL, highlighting the renewed commitment of the local Government to our scenic spaces and the dynamization of the Historic Center. This commitment is reaffirmed in other projects of vital importance for the municipality; such as the future parking lot next to the well-known Pilar neighborhood, in the Las Golondrinas estate, the redevelopment of this area, or the future integration in the vicinity of the Casa de la Música.
