El Ayuntamiento y la Jefatura de Tráfico actualizan convenio para mejorar seguridad vial

The Marbella City Council and the Provincial Traffic Headquarters have updated their collaboration agreement to define the areas of action of the Local Police and Civil Guard with the aim of improving road safety and optimizing surveillance on the road network. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, highlighted that the new agreement, which includes considering all different-level links of the A-7 motorway as urban, «determines with greater precision which areas and kilometers are under the jurisdiction of both security forces.»

The mayor, who signed the document today with the provincial traffic chief, Aida Vilaret, thanked «the collaboration and the fluid relationship of the institution with our city to define the most conflictive points of the municipal area.» Vilaret, on her part, pointed out that «we are very pleased with the update of this agreement because it will help optimize traffic control,» while emphasizing that «there has always been very good harmony between the agents of both bodies, something very beneficial for all residents.»

The new agreement, which replaces an outdated agreement due to urban growth, stipulates that all different-level links of the A-7 within the municipal area will be considered urban for traffic purposes, making them the responsibility of the Local Police. Meanwhile, the Civil Guard Traffic Group will be in charge of monitoring the acceleration and deceleration lanes to access or exit the motorway.

Additionally, the agreement includes detailed planning to visually define the areas of jurisdiction and designates checkpoints for road safety verification where surveillance will be intensified. These checkpoints include access points from the A-7 in Cabopino (exit 1030), Hotel Don Carlos/Elviria (1033), La Cañada/Ojén (1043), Nagüeles (1045), access to Puerto Banús (1050A and 1051), and San Pedro Alcántara (1053), among others.
