El CEIP Axarquía de Vélez-Málaga mejora su sistema de climatización y amplía espacios de uso en el colegio.

The educational center in Vélez-Málaga will have the conditioning of this new infrastructure starting tomorrow Tuesday with heat pumps and a new generation system, which students and teachers will be able to enjoy throughout the school year. This complex is added to about a dozen schools in the municipality with innovative and modern facilities, which were already received before Christmas and made effective through more than 60 state-of-the-art equipment. In addition to them, the CEIP Axarquía joins, reaffirming the local government’s commitment to education and the well-being of those who are part of our educational community, moving towards a more sustainable and equitable future in the town.

Furthermore, tasks have been carried out including the demolition of the walls that formed the caretaker’s house to create new spaces for the center’s use, demolition of bathrooms, and execution of coatings, painting, and carpentry in affected areas of the building. The total cost of these actions amounts to 58,220 euros.

The Councilor for Municipal Services, Jesús María Claros, and the Councilor for Education, Lourdes Piña, have announced today, in situ, the installation of a new air conditioning system at the CEIP Axarquía in the municipality, an action that will start tomorrow Tuesday and adds to those that have been carried out in recent months to condition various schools in our municipality, around a dozen educational environments. The total investment amounts to 9,300 euros and is part of the municipal plan to improve the environmental conditions in public educational centers, with special attention to spaces intended for students with special educational needs.

With this measure, as Claros has shown, «we reinforce the commitment of this Government team to education by installing new efficient and sustainable air conditioning systems in nursery, primary, and special education classrooms, responding to the priority needs of schools and promoting the well-being of students throughout the municipality.» This ambitious action plan allows «to provide the different classrooms of schools with very necessary, modern, and efficient infrastructures,» as the municipal councilor emphasized, meaning «that the appropriate standards are available for the attendance of minors in class and the performance of their indispensable work by teachers.»

The articulated project brings significant benefits to nursery, primary, and special education classrooms. «Our priority is for the children in our municipality to learn in the best possible conditions and where they spend most hours during the school year. With this plan, we take a step further in our commitment to invest in quality education, caring for both students and teaching staff. Additionally, this project demonstrates our commitment to sustainability by choosing highly efficient equipment that contributes to environmental care,» Jesús María Claros reported.

«This is cutting-edge technology, with a heat pump to ensure comfort throughout the year, and they meet the highest energy efficiency standards.» In this case, 10 units of inverter heat pump air conditioning have been installed, with energy efficiency type A+++, 8 of them wall-mounted split systems with a 3,500-frigorie management system, and 2 remaining with 4,500 frigories. The responsible councilor recalled that «this intervention adds to those already carried out before Christmas in numerous schools and to many other actions that we have carried out in the different educational centers during almost two years of this term.»

Lourdes Piña, Councilor for Education, highlighted the highly positive nature of the project «in order to meet the needs that our schools demand from us,» which she describes as a «top priority,» and in the case of CEIP Axarquía, «a further step in our work for the citizens and, in this case, for education, which has been ongoing since we began the first phase of installing these devices to provide the best infrastructures to our schools and those that are part of the local educational community.»

It is worth noting that this educational center participates in summer workshops and training activities during the summer period, which reinforces the need for adequate facilities for use during the hottest months of the year. The planned action will allow these activities to be carried out with greater quality and comfort, benefiting both students with specific educational support needs and the rest of the students.

During the visit, the councilors were accompanied by the center’s director, Mariví Cañete, along with representatives of the Parents’ Association, who highlighted the value of an action «that represented an important need for our facilities.» The action at CEIP Axarquía adds to those carried out before the Christmas period of 2024, with over 60 air conditioning units with heat pumps and energy efficiency A+++ in a dozen schools in the town, including CEIP Nuestra Señora de los Remedios (Zona Sur), CEIP Juan Herrera Alcausa, CEIP Vicente Aleixandre, and CEIP Custodio Puga in Torre del Mar, CEIP San Faustino in Benajarafe, CEIP Genaro Rincón in Caleta de Vélez, CEIP Juan Porras in Triana, CEIP Torrejaral in Cajiz, and Valle-Niza.

Center conditioning

In addition to the installation of the new air conditioning system, tasks have been carried out at the educational center, including the demolition of the walls that formed the caretaker’s house to create new spaces for the center’s use, as well as the demolition of bathrooms and the execution of coatings, painting, and carpentry in affected areas of the building.

«It was a demand we had for a long time, as originally not being an educational center, we lacked space, and that has been resolved once the previous caretaker left after retirement. We are going to gain space and, consequently, in quality,» detailed the center’s manager, who also wanted to thank «the City Council because they are fulfilling what they promised, both with the air conditioners and with the ongoing work,» Mariví Cañete concluded. The total cost of the actions amounts to 58,220 euros and are part of the Rural Employment Promotion Plan (PFEA), corresponding to the 2024 Infrastructure exercise.
