El Ratoncito Pérez recorre La Villa en Vélez-Málaga: una tierna aventura para toda la familia.

Andrea Aranda and Tony Jiménez, the writers, have created a unique and surprising storytelling version of the beloved rodent’s story for children and adults to enjoy on May 24th, starting at 6:00 p.m. from the Plaza del Espinar, reliving the adventures of the character that starred in our most tender childhood memories, in a version set in the distinctive streets of La Villa.

Integrated into the calendar of proposals aimed at revitalizing the Historic Center, this creative activity will bring back memories of our childhood and introduce younger residents to a magical stage of their parents’ and grandparents’ lives, with the dreamy appearance of the famous neighborhood as the setting for the endearing animal, transforming this traditional tale into a local story with universal appeal that connects generations and enhances the children’s imagination from a contemporary and endearing perspective.

Following the launch of the 2025 Book Fair in Vélez-Málaga, which had its first glimpses in the municipality since its opening on Friday morning at the Plaza de Las Carmelitas, there will soon be a proposal for all ages. One of the main events promoted by the Historic Center Council is a unique representation for children of the famous children’s character Ratoncito Pérez, who for decades was one of the most beloved animals by children in Spain and will be in Vélez-Málaga with Andrea Aranda and Tony Jiménez.

Under the symbolic name of «The Origin of Ratoncito Pérez in the neighborhood of La Villa,» these two authors have devised a surprising storytelling composition that gives a new twist to the endearing character and places him in one of our city’s most characteristic and emblematic neighborhoods. On May 24th, starting at 6:00 p.m. from the Plaza del Espinar, the little rodent that brightened our mornings with joy will roam through our imagination, thanks to the creativity of Andrea Aranda and Tony Jiménez, the streets and squares of the representative neighborhood of La Villa, experiencing countless adventures. Special mention to the sociocultural association «La Villa Existe,» which is actively involved in the daily life of its surroundings and supports many of the projects and proposals carried out.

«The initiative that Andrea and Tony have conceived is very beautiful and special for us, and I am sure it will enchant the attendees. I hope that both adults and children will want to participate in this exciting experience, allowing us to remember an animal that was crucial to all of us in our early childhood,» highlighted Juan Fernández Olmo, the Councilor of the Historic Center, who also emphasized that «activities like this, with a clear educational and fun purpose for our younger residents, are also a way for us, the adults, to relive a tradition that made us believe in magic in our childhood, moments that we will always carry with us.»

During this morning’s presentation, Fernández Olmo praised «these unique projects that bring families together and allow us to enhance, once again, a neighborhood that holds great significance for us, and where we have worked tirelessly over the past months to improve, beautify, and provide interesting content for its residents and all those who have wanted to join us,» a point that, he emphasized, «we have also emphasized in other locations in the Historic Center and the urban area of Vélez-Málaga, as we want to continue highlighting corners of the municipality that are essential showcases to promote Vélez-Málaga beyond our region.»

«I want to highlight the creativity and commitment to children’s literature of Andrea and Tony, who with their talent will bring the magic of Ratoncito Pérez to La Villa, in an event that would not be possible without the support of the Historic Center Council and the backing of Juan Fernández Olmo for all projects,» added Josefina Rey, president of the sociocultural association «La Villa Existe.»

Ratoncito and La Villa

The combination of the magical mouse and our unique neighborhood promises guaranteed success. Andrea Aranda and Tony Jiménez have propelled a truly commendable idea, reinterpreting our tradition and childhood in a way that pays homage to the original character while nodding to its roots, giving it a new identity linked to La Villa in Vélez-Málaga. «With this work, we want to give Ratoncito Pérez a unique and familiar character, placing him within the cultural and symbolic context of this beloved neighborhood in the municipality,» summarized Andrea Aranda, adding that «I must thank the association La Villa Existe and the City Council for their support, from which artists can draw inspiration, in this case in a tale that not only preserves the magic of the traditional story but transforms it into a local story with universal appeal, connecting generations and enhancing children’s imagination from a contemporary and endearing perspective.»

An undoubtedly unique and unrepeatable opportunity for us to connect children and adults in the imaginary world of Ratoncito Pérez, enjoying his adventures and experiences throughout the neighborhood of La Villa in Vélez-Málaga. «I encourage everyone, adults, and children, to attend the event and let themselves be carried away by their imagination; it will be an unforgettable spectacle,» concluded Juan Fernández Olmo, Councilor of the Historic Center.
