The councilor of the Area, Jesús María Claros, along with the deputy mayor of Triana, Lourdes Piña, have presented the completion of an action that represented an important demand from the residents of this town, consisting of the renewal of the road, whose pavement had already suffered considerable deterioration. The road and sidewalk are placed at the same level, achieving a wider sidewalk area and a smoother and more functional traffic flow. The work has been carried out over an area of 205 square meters. The executed work has involved a budget allocation of 53,868 euros. It is part of the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), specifically in the 2024 exercise in terms of Infrastructure. Vélez-Málaga has received 720,530 euros for various interventions in the municipal area under this comprehensive action plan.
The Vélez-Málaga City Council, through its Infrastructure Department, has presented the completion of a decisive work for a location with regular traffic flow in the municipal area, La Zorrilla Street, belonging to the population center of Triana. This new materialized action has been unveiled today by the councilor of the Area, Jesús María Claros, and the deputy mayor of Triana, Lourdes Piña, who have come to oversee work that was highly demanded by the residents of the area, consisting of the renewal of the road and sidewalk in this well-known street in the Velez-Malaga area, which had a pavement affected by deterioration, both on the road surface and in sections of the sidewalk, composed of hydraulic tiles. The work in question has been carried out with a budget of 53,868 euros, financed through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), corresponding to the 2024 exercise in terms of Infrastructure.
In this case, the municipal head of Infrastructure of the Vélez-Málaga City Council, Jesús María Claros, has expressed satisfaction at being able to address «a need to act on a road where the sidewalks were configured with barely one meter on both sides», so the work has allowed the arrangement of the road and sidewalks at the same level, achieving a wider sidewalk area and a proper distribution of both segments, a measure «that will allow a balanced and functional traffic development dynamic», as specified by the councilor.
«With this intervention, very necessary and communicated to us by the residents, we have worked intensively and managed to solve an essential project for the residents of the Triana center,» detailed Claros, understanding the action to be carried out as a series of tasks that involve «the reorganization of the road known as La Zorrilla in the service of a fluid, more comfortable, and functional traffic flow.»
The deputy mayor of Triana, Lourdes Piña, has emphasized this need, for which the available resources have been put into motion as «another example of the commitment we have acquired from the local government since the beginning of the term, almost two years ago, with our residents throughout the municipal area, in the recovery and adaptation of those areas that are not in optimal conditions for use», and, therefore, she has valued «works that were needed and requested by the users, companies, and groups that pass through this road daily», so «both the Infrastructure Department and the Deputy Mayor’s Office of Triana have responded to the demands of the residents and have gotten to work to streamline the corresponding procedures, so that the improvements could become a reality as soon as possible.» In this sense, Piña has emphasized her «satisfaction» at expediting the deadlines to «be here today, receiving an action of vital importance for the residents of this town.»
Technically, the work has involved the redistribution of the section, with the road and sidewalk placed at the same level, expanding the latter area. The work has been carried out over an area of 205 square meters. For this purpose, the current pavement has been demolished and then excavated to a depth that allowed the extension of a 30 cm layer of selected soil, as well as the laying of a 20 cm mass concrete layer type HM-20 with pigment in different colors to distinguish the road and sidewalk. This has been done through a concrete type A1 sidewalk curb. In other terms, the planting of four new trees has been carried out. 3 officers and 15 construction workers have been hired for this project.
The road and sidewalk renovation works on La Zorrilla Street in the Triana population center are part of the set of actions carried out or in the process of execution corresponding to the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), in its 2024 exercise in the Infrastructure chapter, with a total budget allocation for Vélez-Málaga amounting to 720,530 euros.
