The Municipal Buildings Department, after receiving a call from the Velez educational center, has proceeded to act on the surface with fencing in poor condition, reinforcing the area with foundations, thus meeting the demand of the teaching community to ensure safety and functionality in the daily development of the complex, in anticipation of the resumption of the school calendar.
The intervention has been carried out over a period of 3 months, perimetering the area at all times to avoid any incidents. An investment of 35,598 euros has been allocated, financed through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Plan (PFEA) in its 2024 edition.
The commitment of the current local Government to our teaching community is once again evident with the unveiling this morning of a new set of improvements in one of our schools. The councilor for Municipal Buildings, Jesús María Claros, and the councilor responsible for Education, Lourdes Piña, attended the completion of crucial repair work on a section of damaged fencing at the El Romeral Primary School in the municipality, highlighting the determined commitment of the Velez Town Hall to the restoration, maintenance, and improvement of our school spaces.
Municipal officials, in the vicinity of El Romeral Primary School, have observed the adaptation of the fenced wall section and its perfect condition for the daily development of the school period by students and teachers, ensuring a safe and functional course of the educational day, in this case, in preparation for the resumption of the school calendar in September.
With the undertaken action, a timely response has been provided to a request made by the school’s board of directors to municipal authorities, after which measures were promptly taken to address the situation. «Once they contacted us, we saw the need and tried to expedite the process as much as possible. Finally, we were able to resolve the situation,» clarified the Area delegate, visibly pleased with «the resolution of a problem that affected the educational community of El Romeral Primary School.»
For her part, the Education councilor, Lourdes Piña, praised the «quick and effective action of the hired construction personnel,» which has allowed «our students and teaching staff to resume their classes and regular activities comfortably and safely in the upcoming academic period, without any possible risks or setbacks. She emphasized that «it is our responsibility to meet the needs that our schools demand, in this case, it was an essential intervention and was defined as a top priority.»
«This is another step in our task and commitment to education in our municipality; it is essential that we do everything in our power to provide the best infrastructures to our schools and those who are part of the local educational community,» Piña concluded.
The technical execution of the works began with the demolition and replacement of the fencing, which was in poor condition and affected the party wall with two neighboring properties. Over an area of 35 meters and a height of 1.20 meters, solid closure and the same area of fencing were carried out, in addition to reinforcing the foundations and removing the cypress hedge that had ruined the enclosure. In these works, 4 construction officers, 2 painters, and 5 laborers were employed, over a period of 3 months, with an execution cost of 35,598 euros. The funding corresponds to the Agricultural Employment Promotion Plan (PFEA) in its 2024 edition.
