Along the same lines, button tiles have been placed on pedestrian crossings and new tree pits have been installed with the insertion of medium-sized trees. The work has been carried out on an extension of 293 square meters in Albardoneros and 77 in Malagueñas.
The total budget allocated to both actions amounts to 97,230 euros, financed through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), belonging to the Infrastructure Area in its 2024 exercise.
The local government continues its work of conditioning and providing infrastructure and equipment in line with the needs of the residents in their daily routine.
The Infrastructure Department of the Vélez-Málaga City Council is advancing in the realization of various actions aimed at the recovery, renovation, and conditioning of the different locations that require intervention in the municipality. In this regard, the municipal councilor of the Area, Jesús María Claros, announced this morning the completion of a new work of vital importance to provide the citizens with comfortable and functional development environments. This is the completion of the sidewalk renovation work on the streets of Albardoneros and Malagueñas in the municipality, which in recent times had «insufficient and outdated width». For this reason, the necessary actions have been taken to increase the total width of these sidewalks, as well as to incorporate button tiles on pedestrian crossings and new tree pits with the integration of medium-sized trees.
The action plan undertaken by the Infrastructure Department in Vélez-Málaga aims to address all deficiencies or defects present in the streets and squares of the municipal area, for which actions have been taken and are continuing in the same manner «by the operational services to provide solutions to everything that contributes to improving the daily lives of residents in their areas of influence, and of visitors who come to our city,» explained Jesús María Claros.
The mentioned works have involved a total investment of 97,220 euros, with a budget allocated to Albardoneros street of 77,000 euros and a sum of 20,230 euros for Malagueñas street. For this intervention, a work team consisting of 30 laborers and 4 officials has been assigned, in the case of the first street, and 18 laborers and 4 officials for the second street. The work of adapting the new pavement has been carried out over a total extension of 370 square meters of surface, with 293 of them corresponding to Albardoneros and the remaining 77 to Malagueñas. The budget has been funded through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), corresponding to the Infrastructure Area in its 2024 exercise.
Regarding the technical execution, the Infrastructure councilor has delved into its development. «First, the demolition of the existing pavement, including the curb, was carried out to a depth that would allow for the extension of a 20 cm layer of selected soil, A1 type concrete curb, 10 cm of HM-20 mass concrete, and 40×40 cm terrazzo tiles with 36 gray buttons taken on mortar.» Button tiles of 40×40 cm have been placed in two pedestrian crossings. He has also mentioned the location of tree pits with the insertion of medium-sized trees, which has a positive impact, as «this provides a wider and more functional space for pedestrian traffic serving the users.»
The work carried out on Albardoneros street and Malagueñas street adds to others carried out on roads such as Reñidero Street or Fragua Street and are part of a recovery axis of poorly maintained infrastructures in the municipal area, managed through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA) in its 2024 exercise. A total investment of 720,530 euros has been allocated to the municipality of Vélez, within a framework of «commitment by the Government team to make our living environment more accessible, functional, and safe,» concluded Jesús María Claros, regarding this series of works focused on improving the safety and accessibility of our roads.
