This is a significant and much-needed intervention in the Vélez-Málaga enclave, addressing the irregularity of the different roadways in the area due to their age and poor condition, posing a risk of tripping or falling. The repair and conditioning work has a budget of 70,000 euros, essential to meet a significant demand from the local community. This project, funded through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), specifically for Infrastructure in the 2024 fiscal year, will be completed over a 2-month period.
Jesus María Claros, the Infrastructure Councilor of Vélez-Málaga City Council, announced the start of pavement repair and adaptation works in the Los Íberos neighborhood. These are crucial actions given the poor condition of the existing pavement, which poses risks due to its age. The focus is on the need to address the irregularities and narrowness of the roadways, mostly used by pedestrians, in this area. The pavement work will improve the flow and functionality for residents.
The project involves demolishing the current pavement, excavating to a suitable level, and then applying a 10 cm thick layer of red pigmented HM-20 concrete over a total of 425 m2 of streets. These actions will significantly enhance the road surface, making it more comfortable and accessible for the residents of Los Íberos.
The enhancement of the Los Íberos streets is a vital service to the community, meeting the demands of the residents and aligning with the municipality’s goal of providing suitable environments for citizens. The renovation and pavement conditioning works in Los Iberos are part of a larger plan funded with approximately 70,000 euros and a 2-month execution timeline. The project falls under the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program for Income Guarantee (PFEA) for Infrastructure in the 2024 fiscal year, allocating a budget of 720,530 euros for various necessary works related to pavement maintenance in Vélez-Málaga’s urban core.
