The Paseo de la Alameda will host, from July 18 to August 17, the 40th edition of the Marbella Book Fair, a consolidated event with culture and reading that will offer a diverse program this summer with book presentations, children’s activities, literary encounters, and book signings. The official opening ceremony will be the proclamation by Marbella journalist and writer Miguel Nieto González, which will take place on Monday, July 21, at 8:00 p.m. at the Hospital Real de la Misericordia. «This initiative, which began in the 80s driven by the Municipal Popular University, celebrates an important anniversary this year as a space for encounters with books and words, maintaining its participatory, inclusive, and approachable spirit, turning each edition into a shared celebration of culture,» noted the general director of the department, Carmen Díaz.
Among the featured presentations are ‘I didn’t want to do it, but you did’, by Flores Álvarez Pérez, on Wednesday the 23rd at 8:00 p.m.; ‘Reflection in the mirror’, by Carolina Taboada, the same day at 9:15 p.m.; and ‘A magical school year’, by Virginia Rodríguez, on Friday the 25th at 8:00 p.m. The program also includes titles such as ‘Zack Anderson: The light of hell’, by Romeo Doña Frontado, on Thursday the 31st; ‘More than words’, by Irene Abecia, on Thursday, August 7; ‘Never give up on love’, by Gloria Montes, on Thursday, August 14; ‘The 10 Romantic Camelias’, by Adela Castañón, that same day at 9:00 p.m., and ‘Tattooing the atlas of my feelings’, by Ruth Álvarez, on Tuesday, August 12.
The fair dedicates a prominent space to children with proposals such as ‘Cuentitis Musiquitis’, a musical storytelling event (Tuesday, July 22); ‘Fanny Fuguet’, a musicalized narration (Thursday, July 24); the workshop ‘Entertainment towards an active life’, with Ángel de Lara (Monday, July 28); ‘Paper boat’, by the Pirueta Teatro company (Tuesday, July 29), and ‘Flying I go, flying I come, on the little way I tell you a story’, with Paula Mandarina (Wednesday, July 30). This section also includes storytellers like Luis Diego Magdaleno, Salva Atienza, Andrea Ortuzar, Pedro Guido, Olga López de Lerma, Karin Pinter, and Sorgina Txirulina, as well as the storytelling workshop ‘The Brothers Grimm’, by Tell and Show Company, on Wednesday, August 13.
During the cultural event, the Marbella Casino Recreational Society will host several literary presentations organized by Ediciones Algorfa, all at 8:00 p.m. The schedule includes titles such as ‘Through my eyes’, by Félix Marina Buitrago (Thursday, July 23); ‘Hamet’s Promise: A Moorish in exile’, by Lina Urbaneja (Friday, July 24); ‘Educational Tales and Stories’, by Encarna Urbano and Josefina Arias (Thursday, July 31); ‘Narrative Poem: The worst singer in the world’, by Ana Eugenia Venegas (Wednesday, August 6); ‘Breads and oils in Al-Andalus: Sowing, harvesting, and cooking’, by Andrés García Baena (Thursday, August 7); and ‘Martina and her domestic lion’, by Paula Osorio Siles (Tuesday, August 12).
Likewise, book signing sessions will be held at the Ediciones Algorfa and Librería Alfaqueque stands with more than a dozen authors, including Claudia Luna Palencia, María Cabrillana de Rivas, Luis Enrique Sánchez, Antonio Romero, Sara Moreno, Valeria Kiselova, Carmen Sánchez Gijón, Pedro Molina Peña, Encarna Urbano, Rosa Martín, Dolores Claros, and Francisco Jiménez and Guadalupe Eichelbaum. The fair’s hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., except on Sundays when it will start at 12:00 p.m. More information at
