La fibra óptica llega a Mezquitilla y Lagos gracias al área de Nuevas Tecnologías de Vélez-Málaga

Mezquitilla becomes one of the first areas in our municipality to have fiber optic deployed throughout its territory. This step not only represents an improvement in access to technology but also a firm and continuous commitment by the City Council to bring connectivity to all corners of the municipality.

The Vélez-Málaga City Council, through its New Technologies department, announced on Friday morning the installation of fiber optic in the population center of Mezquitilla and Lagos. This deployment will allow all residents in the area to access high-speed Internet.

The presentation was attended by the Councilor for New Technologies of the Vélez-Málaga City Council, David Segura; the deputy mayor, David Vilches; and the representative of the company Jetnet, Manuel Berlanga.

Segura stated, «It is an honor to be here today to announce a fundamental advancement for this town and the municipality as a whole. From today, Mezquitilla becomes one of the first areas in our municipality to have fiber optic deployed throughout its territory. This step not only represents an improvement in access to technology but also a firm and continuous commitment by the City Council to bring connectivity to all corners of the municipality.»

According to Segura, «Fiber optic is the foundation of modern connectivity, and its deployment in this district is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, has access to the best digital tools. We know that in today’s world, internet connectivity is not a luxury but a necessity to access information, telecommuting, education, public services, and, of course, for the development of new economic opportunities.»

This project «has been made possible thanks to the close collaboration with the company Jetnet, a trusted technological partner that has put all its knowledge and effort into making this deployment a reality. Through this joint effort, we have managed to provide the Los Puertas area with a first-class technological infrastructure that will significantly improve the quality of life for our residents.»

«It is undeniable that the arrival of fiber optic has a direct impact on people’s well-being. The residents of Mezquitilla will now be able to enjoy a much faster, stable, and efficient internet connection, which will facilitate everyday tasks such as distance education, service management, and general communication. Additionally, economically, this advancement will open new doors for local businesses and entrepreneurs, allowing for business expansion, attraction of new projects, and even job creation,» highlighted Segura.

This fiber optic deployment is not just a technological advancement, «it is an investment in the future. A future where equal opportunities are possible thanks to technology, and where all individuals, regardless of their location, can have access to the same opportunities for economic, educational, and social development,» he added.

For David Segura, «from the City Council, we continue to work to ensure that technology reaches every corner of our municipality, improving the lives of our residents and creating a more prosperous future for all. This is just the first step of many that we will take to continue connecting our districts with the world. I once again thank Jetnet for their collaboration and the effort of everyone involved in making this project a reality. Together, we continue to move towards a more digital, connected, and inclusive future for all.»

The Deputy Mayor of Mezquitilla and Lagos, David Vilches, publicly thanked Jetnet and New Technologies for their collaboration in improving the technological infrastructure of these towns. During his speech, Vilches also acknowledged the efforts of his colleagues from the previous legislature, such as Juan Carlos and Juan García, who worked tirelessly to bring fiber optic to the most remote areas, such as Mezquitilla and Lagos.

«Since the beginning of this legislature, in conversations with Councilor David Segura, we were clear that this was an urgent demand. Not only the senior workshops in the area but also the residents of these two small towns needed access to quality internet. This is a very important advancement, especially for the elderly who will be able to access the workshops they value so much, and for telecommuting and the daily lives of our citizens,» Vilches stated.

The Deputy Mayor also highlighted the growing number of inhabitants in both towns, emphasizing that Mezquitilla and Lagos are constantly expanding localities, with numerous urban and building projects underway. «This progress will also benefit the businesses operating in the area, creating opportunities and promoting the joint growth of the community,» Vilches noted.

One of the highlights of his speech was the positive impact the arrival of fiber optic will have on the senior workshops, essential for modernization and access to new technologies. «Our seniors, who participate in these important workshops, will finally be connected to the digital reality that is so essential today. It was a demand made to me when I took office in July 2023, and despite the technical challenges complicating the arrival of fiber, thanks to the effort and dedication of all involved, we have made this a reality,» emphasized the Deputy Mayor.

In conclusion, David Vilches expressed his satisfaction and commitment to the future of Mezquitilla and Lagos, thanking all those involved in this achievement and reaffirming the commitment to continue working for the growth and well-being of these localities.

«Thank you all for your effort and for contributing to the progress of Mezquitilla and Lagos. We will continue working to grow together,» Vilches concluded.

The President of Jetnet, Manuel Berlanga, thanked the City Council for the support and facilities provided to deploy telecommunications services in the small urban communities. During his speech, Berlanga highlighted Jetnet’s focus as a telecommunications operator, specialized in bringing connectivity to those disadvantaged areas where access to the internet and the digital divide are more significant.

«We are focused on these populations, especially in those where digitalization has not yet arrived with the same strength as in other areas. We want everyone to have access to broadband, and thanks to the support of the City Council, we will be able to make it a reality,» Berlanga assured.

The President of Jetnet, Manuel Berlanga, announced the launch of the fiber optic deployment in the towns of Mezquitilla and Lagos, a project made possible thanks to the support of the Vélez-Málaga City Council.

Berlanga emphasized the importance of bringing high-speed fiber optic to these rural areas, where there are often greater challenges in accessing a quality connection, contributing to increasing the digital divide. «I have always focused on smaller populations, such as Mezquitilla and Lagos, where access to high-speed internet is a challenge. These initiatives are essential to close the digital divide and ensure that everyone, regardless of where they live, can enjoy the benefits of technology,» stated Berlanga during his speech.

The President of Jetnet also recalled his personal connections to the area, expressing his satisfaction in being able to offer this high-quality service to a population he knows well. «It is a great population, where I was fortunate to spend many periods of my childhood, and what better than to now offer them this high-quality service to improve their connectivity and development,» he highlighted.
