La Fundación María Zambrano presenta ciclo de charlas sobre la filósofa veleña

Under the title «Approaches to María Zambrano. Thinking about today’s world,» six lectures have been scheduled over six months to discuss an important book by Zambrano in each one, promoting a greater understanding of the illustrious local neighbor and her work, as well as encouraging participants to reflect, whether in person or online, on the significance of her figure in the present context.

The conferences will begin on June 12 at the Foundation’s headquarters with philosopher Leo Espluga leading a high-level lineup of experts on Zambrano’s universe, such as María Artacho, Verónica Tartabini, and José Manuel Mouriño, among others. There will be 6 sessions, over 6 months, with 6 voices of contemporary thought.

The María Zambrano Foundation continues with its roadmap in the development of new proposals and projects to bring closer and project the figure of the illustrious Velezian thinker. It intensifies this framework of action with the presentation of an interesting initiative for the dissemination of the work of one of the most relevant figures in modern philosophy and contemporary literature.

Based on this paradigm, the seed of «Approaches to María Zambrano. Thinking about today’s world» is planted, a concept that aims to incubate a series of monthly conferences that will address, from a deep and diverse perspective, the major themes of the author’s universe. Experts and academics will participate in these talks and round tables, guiding participants in the study and reflection on Zambrano’s work.

Those who take part in this series of sessions, a total of six meetings per month around the profound and rich work of our renowned neighbor, will have the opportunity to delve into an educational course that «will delve into the most characteristic themes of our thinker, touching on essential issues of the human being, democracy, peace, poetic reason, and the existential dilemmas of our time,» detailed Alicia Berenguer, secretary of the Foundation and coordinator of this program of lectures and dissertations, in which «our main objective is to bring María closer to as many people as possible, not just experts, especially with the aim of allowing young people to access.»

Berenguer was accompanied in the presentation of this proposal by the Councilor of Culture and Heritage of the Velez Town Hall, Alicia Ramírez, and the Managing Director of the María Zambrano Foundation, Luis Ortega. The three representatives have agreed on the common will to develop a united front in enhancing the image and trajectory of our María Zambrano, a universal reference in the world of philosophy and literature, that we will study with greater emphasis through this series of conferences, starting on June 12 with philosopher and popularizer Leo Espluga, at the headquarters of the organization that manages Zambrano’s figure. The chosen format will be hour-long talks, followed by a space for dialogue and reflection interacting with the audience. The aim is to complement the sessions with online participants, so that people from all over the world can join the discussion.

Alicia Ramírez, councilor of the area, emphasized that «our firm commitment is to disseminate María Zambrano and her work through multiple projects that are already underway and will continue from the Council, with a clear focus on bringing the thinking and work of our admired neighbor closer, as well as delving deeper into the essential themes and their application in today’s world. Both goals are pursued with the proposal we are presenting today.»

On his part, the Managing Director of the Foundation, Luis Ortega, stressed «the need to continue working on all fronts and, specifically in the announced talks, to delve into the study and reflection on one of her most important books in each session, encourage debate and collective questioning, as well as facilitate access to contemporary theory and thought through the participation of the best specialists in the topics that María Zambrano addressed,» argued the representative.
