The Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mines of the Andalusian Government, Jorge Paradela, highlighted that the Andalusian Government has allocated 300 million euros of its own funds to boost flagship projects in the large industry sector in Andalusia over the last four years through the program of Complementary Incentives to Regional Economic Incentives, whose third call is already open for applications.
Endowed with a budget of 150 million for the years 2025 and 2026, the Minister pointed out that this support instrument for the Andalusian industrial sector is a «differential» program aimed at «attracting industrial investment to our region by further increasing the incentive for flagship projects of large companies established in Andalusia that have benefited from these state incentives.» Thus, large industrial companies in the aerospace sector, the manufacturing industry, or advanced logistics that are planning strategic investments in the autonomous community can benefit from these grants.
«In the first call, we made a total of 32 million available to large industrial companies in Andalusia in 2022, while in the second call, corresponding to the years 2023 and 2024, we launched 118 million,» Paradela recalled, noting the effort made to allocate 150 million in the third call, published in BOJA.
The Minister emphasized that this is «a tool that sets Andalusia apart from the incentives offered by other autonomous communities and allows us to be one of the European regions with the highest percentage of support for large industrial investments.» In its two previous calls, the Andalusian Government has supported 14 flagship investments totaling nearly 800 million euros of investment and creating around 200 jobs, he noted.
Among them, the ‘CirCular’ project by Atlantic Copper in Huelva involves the construction of an innovative plant for the treatment of electrical and electronic waste to recover non-ferrous metals such as copper, gold, or platinum, for which incentives of 7.6 million have been authorized to support an investment totaling 255.5 million.
Also in the province of Huelva, Air Liquide Ibérica de Gases SLU will receive a grant of 7.4 million for an initiative related to the production of atmospheric gases exceeding 90 million. Likewise, the Andalusian Government has authorized a complementary incentive of 5.3 million for the copper transformation project that the company Cunext Copper is carrying out in Córdoba. On the other hand, the mining company Cobre Las Cruces has been granted nearly 3.5 million for a total investment project of 195.5 million related to the establishment of a hydrometallurgical plant in the province of Seville, Jorge Paradela pointed out.
«Our Complementary Incentives to Regional Economic Incentives are a support tool for the industry with which Andalusia stands out and complements other industrial support programs articulated by this Department with the aim of attracting industrial investment to our region.»
In this regard, the Minister of Industry mentioned the new instrument of Integrated Competitiveness and Energy Incentives, endowed with 250 million financed by FEDER 2021-27 funds, aimed at small and medium-sized industrial and mining companies, the 157 million from the European Just Transition Fund to promote sustainable industrial reindustrialization in the provinces of Almería, Cádiz, and Córdoba through 10 flagship projects, the grants for basic infrastructures of industrial projects, or the line of guarantees for self-employed individuals and industrial SMEs through Garántia.
«Andalusia is experiencing a very interesting industrial moment, as evidenced by the fact that we have attracted 16.3 billion euros in industrial investment in three years; that is the path we want to continue on, because the industry stabilizes the population in the territory and generates quality employment,» he concluded.
