La junta directiva reconoce nueve proyectos de igualdad y prevención de violencia de género en aulas

The Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality, through the Institute of Andalusian Women (IAM) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training, recognized nine projects that promote gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence in Andalusian Educational Centers during the celebration of the V Andalusian Coeducation Congress, held on January 27 and 28 in Córdoba.

In this edition, not only were research and experiences presented, but also good practices carried out in Andalusian classrooms on various topics: inclusive curriculum, non-sexist language, equitable participation, awareness and training of teachers, promoting various models, avoiding gender stereotypes, and promoting gender equality in sports. A total of 42 projects were presented. The awards were presented by the Director of the Andalusian Women’s Institute, Olga Carrión, the Director General of Educational Participation and Inclusion, Almudena García, and the President of the Scientific Committee of the Andalusian Coeducation Congress, Consuelo Arrow, during the closing of this forum.

Regarding the good practices developed in non-university education centers, there were 22 requests in three categories. The three selected initiatives each received 500 euros. In the category of coeducational projects by teachers or students, the winning initiative was «The Daughters of the Sea» made in Almería. This project makes the relationship of women with the sea visible throughout history. The materials are adapted to different educational stages, including the construction of an arch section with a figurehead, a mythological map, signage, or an evacuation room, among others.

In the category of co-education projects carried out by parent associations, the winning initiative was «Educating in Equality: Preventing Gender-Based Violence from a Co-education and Community Perspective» by the Provincial Federation of Parents Associations of Students (FAMPA) of Los Olivos Center in Linares. This project includes key actions carried out in the school years from 2020 to 2024, covered by innovative programs such as «Coeducators Family School,» digital campaigns, teacher training, and creative events involving the entire educational community. Over 200 families participated in the workshops, 150 teachers were trained, and co-educated materials were created.

Additionally, three educational centers received special recognition for their outstanding work in promoting equality and eliminating gender stereotypes: Nuestra Señora de Andújar in Jaén for their work «Roldana. Brave Sculptor Forgotten,» Nazarí in Salobreña, Granada for their project «Inclusive Theater with a Gender Perspective,» and Alfaguar in Vélez-Málaga, Málaga for their efforts in «Continuing to Denounce and Reject Gender-Based Violence.»
