El sábado 5 de abril, el Ayuntamiento de Estepona inaugurará una plaza en honor al guitarrista e Hijo Predilecto del municipio, Daniel Casares. El evento especial será presidido por el alcalde, José María García Urbano, y contará con la presencia del artista, familiares, amigos y miembros de la Corporación. La plaza llevará el nombre del compositor esteponero y se encuentra junto a la calle Conejera.
En el año 2023, el Consistorio aprobó reconocer la destacada trayectoria de Daniel Casares, otorgándole el título de Hijo Predilecto y dedicándole un espacio público dentro de Estepona. La inauguración oficial de la plaza que lleva su nombre tendrá lugar este próximo sábado a las 13.00 horas. Este nuevo espacio ha sido sometido a una rehabilitación integral como parte del plan especial de intervención en barriadas que lleva a cabo el Ayuntamiento.
Nacido en Estepona, Daniel Casares se ha consagrado como uno de los grandes nombres del flamenco y la guitarra española, gracias a su esfuerzo, maestría y arte. El Ayuntamiento ha valorado la estrecha relación de Casares con su municipio natal, convirtiéndose en uno de sus mejores embajadores tanto dentro como fuera de España. Su trayectoria profesional está llena de éxitos nacionales e internacionales, mostrando siempre su cariño por sus raíces y su gente, llevando a Estepona en su corazón y haciéndola más universal.
La capacidad inagotable de Daniel Casares para enfrentar nuevos desafíos lo ha llevado a incursiones aclamadas en la música clásica y colaboraciones con destacados artistas internacionales. Anualmente, se presenta en auditorios de renombre mundial como el Royal Albert Hall y el Barbican Centre de Londres, así como en el legendario Carnegie Hall de Nueva York, entre otros.
Estudiante incansable del flamenco, Casares ha recibido galardones como el Premio Revelación Musical de la Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos (Nueva York, 2005), el Premio Nacional de Crítica Flamenca Miguel Acal (2005) y el Premio Nacional de Guitarra ‘Bordón Minero’ (Murcia, 1997), entre otros reconocimientos.
El pasado verano, en Estepona, estrenó el proyecto ‘La Movida Flamenca’ junto al también malagueño Javier Ojeda, una propuesta cultural original que fue muy exitosa. La influencia y el talento de Daniel Casares han dejado una huella imborrable en el mundo de la música flamenca y española, consolidándolo como uno de los artistas más destacados de su generación.
The Estepona City Council will inaugurate a square dedicated to the guitarist and Honorary Son of the municipality Daniel Casares this coming Saturday, April 5. The special event will be presided over by the mayor, José María García Urbano, and will be attended by the artist, family members, friends, and members of the Corporation. The new space, named after the Estepona composer, is located next to Conejera Street.
The City Council approved in a full session in 2023 to recognize the career of Daniel Casares, one of the flamenco guitarists with the greatest international projection, granting him the title of Honorary Son that same year, and dedicating a public space within the municipality to him. This upcoming Saturday, at 1:00 pm, the square bearing his name will be officially inaugurated. It is an area that has just undergone a comprehensive rehabilitation as part of the special intervention plan in neighborhoods carried out by the City Council.
A native of Estepona, the flamenco guitarist and composer has the honor of having established himself, through his effort, mastery, and art, as one of the great names in flamenco and Spanish guitar. The Estepona City Council has valued Casares’ close relationship with the municipality where he was born, having become one of its best ambassadors both in and outside of Spain. With a professional career full of national and international successes, he has always shown the affection he holds for his roots and his people, always carrying Estepona in his heart and making it more universal.
Daniel Casares’ inexhaustible capacity to face new challenges has led to acclaimed forays into classical music and collaborations with prominent international artists. His artistic commitments lead him to perform annually on the stages of world-renowned auditoriums, such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican Centre in London, or the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York, among others.
An tireless student of flamenco, he has accolades such as the Musical Revelation Award from the Association of Show Critics (New York, 2005), the National Flamenco Criticism Award Miguel Acal (2005), and the National Guitar Award ‘Bordón Minero’ (Murcia, 1997), among others.
Last summer, he premiered the project ‘La Movida Flamenca’ in Estepona, alongside fellow Malaga native Javier Ojeda, in an original cultural proposal that was highly successful.
