La Policía Local interviene en enero a mayo más de 12.300 artículos contra la venta ambulante.

During the months of January to May, the Local Police have intervened in a total of 12,330 articles as part of the operation against illegal street vending, with over 8,000 of them being counterfeit, as announced today by spokesperson Félix Romero after the Government Board meeting. Romero emphasized the importance of this operation for a tourist city like ours, stating, «We cannot allow non-authentic replicas to proliferate, both for the image of our locality and for the legal businesses operating here.»

The councilor detailed that a total of 125 reports were filed, with the involvement of a dozen agents, six in uniform, four undercover, and two on motorcycles, primarily operating in the Paseo Marítimo and the sports harbors of Virgen del Carmen, Puerto Banús, and Cabopino. Romero highlighted that the confiscated articles such as handbags, belts, or glasses are destroyed at the Casares recycling plant. He also mentioned that during the 2024 campaign, a total of 18,200 non-counterfeit products and 1,400 counterfeit ones were seized, resulting in 165 reports being filed.

Additionally, the local government reported on various responsible declarations in urban planning approved in May totaling nearly 8 million euros, along with five licenses granted in today’s meeting amounting to 1 million euros. Information was also provided on several decrees from the Department of Social Rights regarding justifications and subsidies to entities, totaling close to 450,000 euros, benefiting organizations like DYA Málaga Road Assistance, Horizonte Proyecto Hombre, Fibromyalgia Association Afimar, Alzheimer’s Patients’ Families (AFA), Mornese Foundation, Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), Autism Ángel Riviere, Afesol, Bancosol, Marbella Volunteer, and Volunteer Promotion Platform.
