Los tronos de la Virgen de los Dolores y Pollinica están en exhibición en el Paseo de Larios de Torre del Mar.

The exhibition will be available from Holy Wednesday to Easter Sunday and can be visited free of charge from 10 am to 8 pm uninterrupted.

On Wednesday morning, the exhibition of the Thrones of the Virgin of Sorrows and Pollinica, as well as utensils and photographs of Holy Week in Vélez-Málaga, was inaugurated at Paseo de Larios in Torre del Mar. This location will be open until Easter Sunday and can be visited for free from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Jesús Pérez Atencia, the Deputy Mayor of Vélez-Málaga, presided over the opening ceremony, which was attended by various councilors from the municipal government, including Javier Rodríguez Vico, Vice President of the Association of Holy Week Brotherhoods of Vélez-Málaga; Salvador Fortes, Head of the Pollinica Brotherhood; José Antonio Bravo, Vocal of the Sweet Name of Jesus and Most Holy Mary of Sorrows; and Roberto Soler, chef of the Flavors School in Torre del Mar.

Atencia mentioned, «We are holding this press conference from the Tourism Department to inform about the traditional Easter Throne exhibition that we carry out every year at Paseo de Larios. The exhibition will be available from Holy Wednesday to Easter Sunday and can be visited free of charge from 10 am to 8 pm uninterrupted.»

He also stated, «As every year, the Thrones of the Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus in His Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem ‘Pollinica’ and Most Holy Mary of Sorrows will be on display. The goal is always to promote and spread awareness of Holy Week in Vélez-Málaga in Torre del Mar. We have a well-established sun and beach tourism, and we want to use it as a gateway for people to come and see Holy Week.»

«These initiatives are necessary to promote and provide information to visitors, and show them that in the same municipality, just a few kilometers away, we have one of the most important Holy Weeks in Andalusia. As every year, there will also be a Tourism booth to provide information to those who come to discover the value of Holy Week in Vélez-Málaga,» added the councilor.

As a novelty this year, Atencia announced, «There will be a tasting of traditional Vélez-Málaga ajobacalao, offered by chef Roberto Soler at 5:30 pm this Wednesday afternoon and also on Good Friday, along with the distribution of informational brochures about this typical Lenten dish. I hope that once again we can count on a significant number of visits and that it continues to be a success.»

Javier Rodríguez Vico, Vice President of the Association of Holy Week Brotherhoods of Vélez-Málaga, expressed gratitude to local institutions for their continuous support. He said, «We are grateful for this initiative by the Vélez-Málaga City Council, through the Deputy Mayor’s Office in Torre del Mar. This support for Holy Week from this major gateway to the municipality, such as Torre del Mar, is very significant. Just as we like to have our house entrance well decorated, we, the brotherhood members, showcase the Thrones of Pollinica and Sorrows to show tourists the grandeur of our tradition.»

Rodríguez Vico emphasized the significance of Holy Week in Vélez-Málaga as a cultural reference point. «We have a significant Holy Week, recognized at the Andalusian, national, and even international levels. I can only reiterate my gratitude for the support received from public institutions.»

Salvador Fortes, Head of the Pollinica Brotherhood, highlighted the value of this exhibition in attracting visitors. He said, «Displaying these Thrones here in Torre del Mar serves as a lure for tourists to get to know Vélez-Málaga. We have seen in previous years that many people are unaware of our town, and thanks to initiatives like this, they discover our Holy Week, which is one of the best in Andalusia.»

Finally, José Antonio Bravo, Vocal of the Sweet Name of Jesus and Most Holy Mary of Sorrows, emphasized the attention to detail in presenting the Thrones. He stated, «It is not just about displaying the Throne, but showing it in all its splendor, with the floral ornamentation intact, as if it were ready to process this very afternoon. We thank all the media and the municipal corporation for helping us promote our Holy Week here in Torre del Mar.»

Bravo concluded with an open invitation to everyone: «We invite everyone to join us on the remaining days of Holy Week: Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. We await you in Vélez-Málaga to share our tradition.»
