Málaga maintained the red carpet on Tuesday for the presentation of «The Snow Girl 2: The Game of the Soul», the second adaptation of the Saga novel in Malaga by Javier Castillo. The gala featured the main protagonists, such as actors Milena Smit and Miki Esparbé, as well as the settings and producers.
The Netflix production, released worldwide on January 31, returns to Malaga, where much of the series was filmed and where the plot takes place.
This six-episode installment once again features Milena in the role of journalist Miren Rojo, who is joined by Miki Esparbé as Jaime, a new partner at the South newspaper, who will accompany the editor on a new investigative case in Malaga.
«Do you want to play?» is the question written on an envelope containing a Polaroid with a young gag, marking the start of a macabre game, the «game of the soul», in which the journalist will risk his life and even his own health.
Speaking to journalists, Smit mentioned that she approached this season by «starting from a different base that is not my own emotions, so as not to effectively take the character home and be able to enjoy the filming», thanks to her coach, Yasmina Rincón.
The artist also thanked the entire team and classmates «who create an incredible universe in a filming and where we can work with the character’s emotions, then leaving them on set and being able to breathe when we return home.»
As she emphasized, this season you can see «a more worked aspect, especially emotional», although she assured that «it takes little, because as soon as an important case arrives, she plays more in favor of the victim, and even puts her own life in danger at the end.» «This is Mire’s spirit and I admire it, but sometimes it takes great risks,» she said.
On his part, Esparbé mentioned that his character «is a guy who likes to listen, who likes to understand, accompany, and yes, aspire to be at least there is part of Jaime in which I admit.» Although he emphasized that «he can do anything for his vocation and I like my job, but I don’t know if I would go to such an extreme.»
The actor stated that Miren’s character is a «tsunami» and highlighted how «pleasant» it was to portray Jaime and join «such a large family from the first season who welcomed me with open arms. «It was a taste,» he added.
Regarding the continuation of the series, writer Javier Castillo mentioned that «we hope for that third season.» «Now we are trying to enjoy, we all celebrate the release of «The Snow Girl 2: The Game of the Soul» and we are all blind, we do not know if there will be that third season,» he said.
In this regard, the novel’s author considered that the third book «has that journey of Mire’s character towards redemption and healing, which I believe she needs.» «It would be an incredible way to close the great wound that the character of Belén Millán, played by Aixa Villagrán, had, as well as the emotional journey they experienced. They hope for that in the third season,» he reiterated.
The cast of this second season is completed by, in addition to Aixa Villagrán, actors Marco Cáceres, Hugo Welzel, Luis Callejo, Luis Bermejo, Vicente Romero, and José Coronado. As for the direction, the same directors from the first installment, David Ulloa and Laura Alvea, return for this new season, and the adaptation was carried out by the screenwriters Jesús Mesas Silva and Javier Andrés Roig, responsible for the first novel.
In this sense, Javier Castillo emphasized the work done with the screenwriter team, «chapter after chapter», to go «building the plot and, above all, trying to maintain the essence of the novel; But at the same time, trying to make the story grow much more, to try to go much further than what we have already achieved with the first one.
When asked if he saw his novel on screen, he emphasized that «it’s a show; Not just the book, but also what it conveys, that emotion, that emotional journey caused by the game in the mud and that feeling of sacrifice. –
