Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco signed on behalf of the Andalusian government and within the framework of Fruit Logistics in Berlin a Manifesto with the regions of Extremadura, Murcia, and the Valencian Community in defense of what is a garden of Europe.
During his speech in front of the media, Fernández-Pacheco stated that «in the world’s largest showcase of fruits and vegetables, we must say that We are the garden of Europe alone because in the south and southeast are the best vegetables in the world.
Therefore, he argued that «we need a water policy that focuses on Scientific facts and eliminates the sectarian ideology that prevents productive sectors from continuing to grow and produce; that establishes Equality clauses that allow us to continue competing in the same way as importing countries and that the European Union cannot become the garden of the rest of the world while other territories continue to grow, innovate, and gain in competitiveness.»
In this sense, the department head said that, in addition to listening and claiming, the Andalusian Government and the other regions involved in the signing of this manifesto are committed to being the first meeting on a path that helps to respect the set objectives.
Dialogue, claim, and strength
«I assumed the commitment to meet again in Madrid, to defend ourselves against the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food and complaints against Brussels. We cannot see ourselves next year at the next edition of Fruit Logistics 2026 talking about the same thing, so 2025 must be the year of many meetings, dialogue.
Finally, he acknowledged that «politics must be a lever for development and that for Andalusia it is a pleasure to be part of this alliance defending the primary sector of the region.»
