Marbella alcanza cifras récord en turismo y rentabilidad hotelera

Marbella closed the 2024 fiscal year with record tourist figures and achieved the highest hotel profitability and best hotel in its history, as reflected in data from the National Institute (NE). The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, appreciated these records, which «show that we have managed to strengthen the ongoing challenge of all destinations; That strengthens our position in new markets, such as the United States, and also refers to our leadership and our commitment to quality, moving away from mass-based models.

«These are very positive data, such as the fact that the average occupancy between the months of April and October reached 80 percent, an unprecedented fact that confirms that we are achieving more and more periods in a traditional way,» said Muñoz, who emphasized that, in total, the number of overnight stays increased to 2,584,174, while the number of visitors reached 719,151 people. According to the countries of origin, the domestic market remained the main emitter, with 201,923 tourists, followed by the United Kingdom with 120,685. The two main markets are added Germany (33,621 visitors), France (33,092), the Netherlands (29,130), Ireland (28,833), and the United States (26,588).

Regarding hotel profitability, «the annual price recorded a record figure, with an average of 214.08 euros, with months like December where it soared to 331.88 and 298.56 euros,» said Muñoz, who pointed out that Marbella’s tourism indicator was the leader in Spain for 2024. The average hotel price set records in eight of the twelve months of the year, while the revenue per available room (revpar) reached historic figures, with 148.01 euros on average last year, with standout months like August (289.17 euros), October (148.06 euros), and December (115.49 euros), indicators that reflect the good health of the sector,» he said.

On the other hand, the director of tourism, Laura de Arcea, stated that, «while the average stay of Spanish customers remains the shortest, at 2.65 days, due to the large number of short getaways during the year, for the rest of the countries, this indicator reaches 3.82 days, with the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ireland being markets whose visitors stay in our hotels, followed by Scandinavians and Americans.»
