Marbella celebrará el Día del Orgullo LGTBI el 27 de junio.

Marbella will commemorate the LGTBI Pride Day on June 27th at the Glorieta de la Fontanilla, an event where «we want to vindicate the rights of this community,» stated yesterday afternoon by the Councilor of Equality and Diversity, Isabel Cintado, during the presentation held at the A-Terapia gastrobar in San Pedro Alcántara, attended by the deputy mayor of San Pedro, Javier García, and the councilors of Citizen Participation and Youth, Enrique Rodríguez and Alejandro González, respectively.

Cintado, who invited all citizens to join this day, explained that the event will start at 7:00 p.m. with activities aimed at the youth population, such as makeup workshops or a diversity trivia game. There will also be an information stand, and at 8:00 p.m., journalist Roberto Caballero Martín will give the opening speech, «a colleague from Radio Televisión Marbella, who has stood out for his defense of equality, diversity, and LGTBI rights,» she pointed out. Special recognitions will also be given to the companies Hard Rock Hotel Marbella, Café Baqué, and Import Montes, as well as to the artist José David González, known as DashStar.

On the other hand, the Councilor of Citizen Participation recalled that this event, supported by the Provincial Council of Malaga and the mentioned hotel establishment, «is prepared with great care from Diversity, involving other delegations in a transversal way, starting with the mayor herself, Ángeles Muñoz, as it is a very important issue for our City Council.»

Rodríguez revealed regarding the participating artists that the day will feature «big names like María Isabel, the singer from Huelva, who conquered Europe at the age of 9 by winning Junior Eurovision 2004 with the song ‘Antes muerta que sencilla.’ Also performing will be Xenon Spain, actress, singer, and reference of Andalusian scenic art, with her unmistakable style and strong advocate of LGTBIQ+ rights; Mr. Proper, a cover band that will thrill the audience with classic Spanish pop-rock songs; Venedita Von Däsh, one of the most influential drag artists in the country; Pepino Marino, a renowned DJ in the LGTBI+ scene, who will mix pop, electronic music, and 90s nostalgia; the local academy Muévete, directed by Rocío Guerrero and David Benítez, and Katrina, another drag queen from the Costa del Sol. «With these and many other performances, the city will become the epicenter of the Pride Day celebration, a space of visibility, respect, and fun for everyone,» stated the councilor.

In the same vein, the municipal delegate for Youth highlighted the work of all the involved councils and stated that «Pride in Marbella is a movement that grows every year, showing that we are doing well and offering an offer that people demand.» The day will be complemented with a bar, creating, as a whole, an open, accessible space designed for all citizens to enjoy and participate.
