Marbella (Málaga) landed at the ITB Tourism Fair in Berlin, which will take place between March 4 and 6, with the aim of attracting new visitors from Germany. The Director General of Tourism, Laura de Arce, stated that «it is an excellent opportunity to showcase the city’s offerings, attract new markets, and strengthen its position as a luxury destination on the Costa del Sol at one of the most important international events in this field.»
According to a statement, she also emphasized that «the 2024 data is spectacular, with a 15% increase in spending by these passengers in the province, so we are confident in continuing to grow and strengthen this segment.»
De Arce detailed that «we will participate under the tourism umbrella and planning of the Costa del Sol, where we will have a workspace at their stand and another at the Andalusian tourism stand, to develop an intense agenda.»
In this regard, she emphasized that «our strategy is to enhance areas that generate a steady flow of travelers, such as cultural tourism, golf and sports, conferences and meetings, or ‘premium’ offerings, through contacts with the German market that will include programming, travel agents, airlines, and influencers, who also include their location, include their location from their location. Exclusive accommodation services.»
The municipal representative further stated that «the luxury sector will be very present during these fair days, with meetings with travel agents dedicated to designing personalized experiences, where they can first-hand discover the resources our municipality has in this sector.»
She also noted that «golf is another segment that we will continue to strengthen in Germany, with a range of 14 areas that make us a European reference and are very attractive to tourists in that region, especially in certain months of the year when the weather prevents this sport.»
The schedule of activities also includes appointments with companies, as they work with football teams, not only from Germany but also from other European countries, with the aim of fostering collaboration to continue the flow of top-tier and lower-tier teams that visit our city. During the winter season, due to the break they have during the colder months in their home countries, «as indicated,» this sector generates 80,000 visits annually in the year.»
Regarding Marbella’s agenda for the opening day at the ITB, Arce explained that the city will participate in a session organized by the WTCF (World Tourism Cities Federation) moderated by Richard Matuzevich, Senior Manager of City Relations at the WTCF secretariat.
The session will address the growing trend of silver tourism among older travelers, the emphasis on sustainability and environmental respect, as well as the role of advanced technology in creating personalized travel experiences.
Other issues to be discussed include the appeal beyond common destinations, the influence of government policies on tourism development, the increasing preference for experiences over material goods, and the shift in marketing sales and travelers towards digital platforms, such as Little Red Book or TikTok.
Arce also specified that on the first day, the delegation will also attend a reception honoring the world of tourism organized by Derio Sur, as well as the ‘networking’ event organized by Andalusian tourism on Wednesday, March 5, at the Emblematic Cathedral, an event that will bring together 150 attendees, where the new campaign will be presented with a performance by the artist from Almeria, «Tomatito.»
