Marbella will be the headquarters for the first time in Andalusia of the Copa del Rey and the Copa de la Reina, one of the main events on the national beach volleyball calendar for 2025. Mayor Ángeles Muñoz highlighted during the official presentation held at the Hospital Real de la Misericordia, that this championship «will take place in top-notch public facilities of 80,000 square meters, such as the Parque del Mediterráneo, from May 29th to June 1st.» She also emphasized that «it will have a great media and promotional impact, through TVE on its Teledeporte channel and on reference media such as Marca and AS.» In this regard, she pointed out that «our municipality has the climate, facilities, a growing number of practitioners in this sports discipline, and a great tradition in it.» «It offers all the guarantees for the tournament to exceed all initial expectations and be a real success,» she added.

The mayor expressed her gratitude for the Real Federación Española de Voleibol’s choice of Marbella, represented at today’s event by its president Felipe Pascual, and emphasized that Marbella joins other cities like Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Gijón, Gran Canaria, A Coruña, or Tenerife, «in a circuit that will delight fans of this sport.» «For our municipality, it is a real luxury to host these important championship events on the national and international calendar for the next three years, positioning our destination as unique in this discipline,» she stated. She also affirmed that «probably not all places can boast of having such powerful clubs as we have here, with such an important talent pool in volleyball.»

On his part, the Sports Councillor, Lisandro Vieytes, highlighted that in the Parque del Mediterráneo, where this event is being held, «we can set up to 16 beach volleyball courts» and thanked and congratulated Costa del Voley «for their season and the activity they are bringing to these facilities.» The president of the Real Federación Española de Voleibol, Felipe Pascual, specified that «we already have around twenty events of various levels on the national calendar this year, to which some more may still be added in the second semester.» Additionally, he added that «if we are here today, it is thanks to the great work you are doing for volleyball in Marbella.» The event also featured the participation of the provincial Sports deputy Juan Rosas, federation presidents from other host cities (Pedro Girones, Madrid, or Luis Ángel Ruenes, Asturias), councilors from this area, such as, among others, the Sports Councillor of Fuengirola, Julio Rodríguez, and the players Sofía González (current Copa de la Reina and Spanish champion) and Adrián Gavira (Olympian).
