Mijas, March 6, 2024.- The Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS) has released the occupancy data for the month of February in Mijas, which have exceeded the initial forecasts reaching 65.18%.

Thus, Mijas stands out as a leading municipality on the Costa del Sol, as compared to the same month last year, the increase is 8.19%. Regarding the Gross Average Impact per Customer Stayed (IBCA), it was on a general level of 106.98 euros in February 2025, compared to 90.19 euros at the end of February 2024.

Since the beginning of the year, the municipality of Mijas has recorded very positive occupancy rates, surpassing those of 2024. In fact, in January, the occupancy rate reached 50.98%, which translates to almost nine points more than what was recorded in the same period in 2024.

«We continue to record good occupancy data, which is a sign of how strong our tourism sector is. This is the result of the well-done work of all involved parties,» said the mayor, Ana Mata.

In the same line, the vice president of AEHCOS in Mijas, Juan Miguel Marcos, also described the results as positive: «These are good data that help break seasonality. The excellent work of hoteliers has produced these results, and the forecasts are also good,» he explained.

Visitors at tourist offices

Regarding the tourist offices in the municipality, during the month of February, they received a total of 9,370 visits, with Spanish visitors accounting for 2,547, British tourists for 1,190, Canadians for 1,066, and Norwegians for 643.

So far this year, 14,637 have requested some type of information at the tourist offices, 28% of which were of Spanish origin and 13% from British backgrounds.
