In addition to the material already approved in previous budgets and soon to arrive, such as new motorcycles, the communications center with its corresponding computer system, and bulletproof vests, which will further enhance the operability and security of the Local Police.

On the other hand, the councilor responsible for Firefighters and Civil Protection, Francisco Jerez, thanked the Plenary for supporting a measure that also includes specific allocations for both services: «It had been years since investments of this magnitude were made. Thanks to this budget modification, we can progress in modernizing the services and improving their operational capacity.»

Among the planned actions for Firefighters, Jerez emphasized the acquisition of new intervention helmets and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as the drafting of the technical project for the future body warehouse, with an initial investment of 150,000 euros: «These resources not only improve the safety of our professionals but also consolidate a city project that is more prepared and better equipped to face any emergency.»

Furthermore, Civil Protection will receive an investment close to 200,000 euros, aimed at enhancing its operational and emergency response capabilities. Among the planned improvements are the supply of medical equipment, intervention and emergency materials, as well as equipment for road safety. Similarly, the City Council continues to work on all fronts related to security, including the rural area. In this regard, the City Council has recently submitted to the Andalusian Government a request for the repair of three rural roads severely affected by rainfall: the Entrerríos Road, the Alquería Road, and the Fuente del Algarrobo Road. These actions, proposed to be included in the government’s in-kind subsidy plan, would improve not only the accessibility of these areas but also the safety of residents, farmers, and emergency responders who travel through them.

The City Council emphasized that this action is part of a long-term strategy that prioritizes security, public service, and continuous improvement of municipal resources. «An investment that directly translates into a better-protected Mijas,» they concluded.
