The Mijas Town Hall commemorates World Health Day with a comprehensive program of activities

Mijas, April 3, 2025.- Every April 7th, World Health Day is commemorated, a day to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of oneself for overall well-being. Therefore, as a prelude to this event, the Mijas Town Hall has prepared a comprehensive schedule of activities that will take place this Sunday, April 6, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Torreón de La Cala square, all under the name ‘Mijas with your well-being’.

This was announced by the Health Councilor, Marco Cortés, who has explained all the actions that will be carried out and highlighted that the program design has been done from a dynamic, fun, participatory, and open to all ages perspective, «being the first time that the Health Department takes on the challenge of combining the educational part with the fun and experience.»

The first of the activities planned is ‘Walking with Purpose’, which involves a route along the coastal path accompanied by tools that help improve emotional well-being. Simultaneously, there will be the ‘Healthy Sleep’ workshop, a space dedicated to highlighting the importance of getting enough quality sleep. ‘Gincana on the use of technology’ which will provide guidelines to reduce health risks and ‘Alcohol-Free Cocktail Workshops’ are part of the program.

There will also be a focus on healthy eating with the ‘Plate of Good Eating’, ‘Nutritional Crossword’ and ‘Healthy Cooking’ activities, as well as activities to improve emotional well-being. Of course, there will be cooperative games to demonstrate the importance of support in achieving goals.

All of this is complemented by a taekwondo exhibition by students aged six to eleven, a yoga workshop adapted for all ages at 10:30 a.m., and the installation of informational tables by ADIMI, Red Cross, Lions Club, APAFFER, AFA Mijas, and Fida Internacional.

«Fida Internacional will address the risks associated with tobacco in an interactive and visual way; Red Cross will check our blood pressure, talk about prevention, and demonstrate CPR; AFA Mijas will conduct a music therapy workshop with the medical school’s student tuna; Adimi will talk about the activities it carries out in the municipality as well as the other groups. We appreciate the collaboration of everyone,» Cortés explained.

Furthermore, the College of Veterinarians will be present to discuss the concept of health from an integrative perspective, ‘One Health’, an approach that emphasizes the interconnectedness of animal and human health, linked to ecosystems.

To facilitate the arrival of attendees, the Town Hall will launch a shuttle bus service departing at 9:30 a.m. from Mijas Pueblo, at 9:50 a.m. from the Water Park, and at 11:00 a.m. from the Cortijo Lagar Don Elías. Return schedules from La Cala will be at 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

«We encourage everyone to become aware of how important it is to have good health,» concluded the councilor.
