Moreno urge a las administraciones a abordar el problema de la vivienda: «Es un desafío de Estado que debemos afrontar juntos»

The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has urged all administrations to take measures in line with the needs and problems that exist in the field of housing, stating that «this is a State issue that we must address together and take very seriously».

Moreno attended an event in Seville with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, for the delivery of 218 protected rental homes at Hacienda El Rosario, with an investment of 27 million euros, a project driven by Emvisesa and made possible through the collaboration of four administrations: the City Council of Seville, the Junta de Andalucía, the Government of Spain, and the European Union.

«When administrations come together and join forces, the citizens benefit. This case is an example of that,» he added.

He noted that for many Andalusians, accessing affordable housing is difficult due to high prices driven by limited supply, increasing land scarcity, and rising construction material costs.

It is worth mentioning that experts indicate that Andalucía needs over 50,000 homes per year until 2027 to meet demand, emphasizing the importance of more land availability and providing property owners with legal security to bring their properties to the market.

He reiterated the commitment of the Andalusian Government in the housing sector, exemplified by the 100 million euros allocated by the Junta for the construction of 17 developments, over 2,500 protected homes in the city, and over 3,000 in the province.

He also mentioned that from 2019 to 2024, 12,000 new protected homes were built, triple the number from the previous six years. Additionally, 250,000 Andalusians annually saved 460 million euros in housing taxes, and measures like a 600 euro tax deduction for rental costs were implemented for young people under 35, individuals over 65, and other groups.

The Andalusian President highlighted key initiatives, such as the Urgent Housing Measures Decree Law with a Shock Plan, aimed at increasing the supply of affordable housing. He emphasized that the goal is to build 20,000 protected homes in five years.
