A replacement of 80 luminaires has been presented to reduce consumption and address the breakdowns that have been occurring in various urbanizations located in the population center. The execution cost amounts to around 30,000 euros, with a 15-day implementation period. These works complement the recent announcement of the refurbishment of Calle Real in Caleta de Vélez, clear examples of the local government’s commitment to this and each of its municipal nuclei.
Improvement actions in the Vélez-Málaga municipal area continue to be carried out by the current local government, which has been working since its arrival to identify the different issues and anomalies in the various locations of the city to recover, adapt, and provide new equipment and infrastructure to the different neighborhoods and locations. Additionally, demands and complaints from users have been collected through various available resources to work closely with the citizens, understand their concerns and needs firsthand, and create a more accessible and suitable environment for their daily routine. Among all these actions, the works carried out at different local points in terms of sanitation, supply networks, replacement and renovation of urban furniture, and replacement and refurbishment of luminaires stand out.
Today, a new and prominent action that required execution has been presented in the urbanizations of Los Puntales and Vistamar in Caleta de Vélez. The Councilor for Infrastructure, Jesús María Claros, and the deputy mayor of the population center, David Segura, have appeared to inform about the start of the works for the replacement of 80 public luminaires located in the indicated areas. The execution cost amounts to 30,177 euros, combining material costs and labor with a 15-day completion period.
This project was requested by the residents of these enclaves due to «the breakdowns that had occurred in some of these elements of the public lighting network of the streets in the mentioned urbanizations,» explained the municipal Infrastructure manager, highlighting once again «the commitment we have made since our arrival to address all the demands made by our neighbors.» Claros emphasized, «we are available to all of them for any contingency they may need in their daily lives.» As a result of the commitment made, a new phase of refurbishment was presented in Calle Real, near the promenade of the town.
Regarding the actions undertaken in the aforementioned urbanizations, the councilor emphasized that they «will help alleviate these breakdowns and minimize failures in the public lighting network,» as well as achieve «a significant reduction in energy consumption,» estimated at around 100 watts (from 150 to 40). The globe-type models will be replaced by 67 IP66 IK08 lantern-type LED villa luminaires of 50 watts VM 3000K T3M optics with a 60 mm diameter column adapter, and 13 more elements of the same type but with 40 watts. Likewise, the fuses of the lampposts will be replaced by 80 coffrets to be housed in an existing column. The grounding of the installation will also be reviewed.
David Segura, deputy mayor of Caleta de Vélez, emphasized that this is «a commitment made to all the residents of these urbanizations,» referring to an investment «achieved in the past term worth more than 22,000 euros, and another budget item of 7,500 euros to address a demand that has been pending for years and to which we are finally responding.»
The councilor highlighted that this will make these enclaves «more accessible» and represent «savings for everyone’s economy.» Segura thanked «the work of the former and current Councilor for Infrastructure, Juan García and Jesús María Claros,» in project and execution, in a matter that was «the main problem for the residents of the area.» The deputy mayor announced that «we will continue trying to address other demands in terms of security and cleanliness.»
Finally, Jesús María Claros recalled that the installation of these types of lighting elements has already been extended to various areas of the municipal area, in a clear and determined commitment to low-consumption light sources, which has also been implemented in the recent energy supply contract for the Vélez City Council, municipal buildings, and public lighting, which will reduce CO2 emissions by almost 3,000 tons.
