The Concejalía de Juventud of the Ayuntamiento de Vélez-Málaga has launched a new edition of training courses for leisure time monitor, corresponding to level 2 professional certification, attached to the socio-cultural services and community family. The new training proposal offered by the Area focuses on preparing professionals in the dynamization of educational leisure activities for children and young people. 15 places are offered for this course, which starts on March 28 and has an application period open from March 3 to 14, with a total cost of 350 euros, 50% subsidized by the City Council.

The councilor for Youth, Lourdes Piña, has reported this morning, along with the responsible person from the Ágora academy, Beatriz Nieto, on the details of a proposal that aims to provide young people with the foundational knowledge and tools to perform in a particularly sensitive professional segment, as they work with our youngest and growing neighbors. The age range for this training is between 16 and 30 years old, and applicants must have a Secondary Education Certificate (ESO) and be registered in Vélez-Málaga. The training is focused on dynamizing educational leisure activities for children and young people, and it complements the lifeguard courses also offered in our town.

Beatriz Nieto, the representative of the academy, highlighted the significance of this accreditation, as it involves professional certifications within the new framework of the Vocational Training Law, reinforcing modular, flexible, and accredited training. These certifications are officially recognized throughout the national and European territories, providing multiple opportunities for professional growth in the education and leisure sector.

The leisure time monitor courses have an application period from March 3 to 14, with registration possible in person, by calling 663 256 448, or via email at juventud@velezmalaga.es. The training consists of 310 hours at the Ágora academy, divided into 150 theoretical-practical hours and 160 hours of practical training in leisure and recreational companies. More information about the course schedule or technical details can be found on the electronic platform https://www.velezmalaga.es/index.php?mod=juventud&id=1102.

The professional certification, approved by the State Employment Service (SEPE), trains enrolled students and accredits them in competencies to organize, dynamize, and evaluate educational leisure activities for children and young people, promoting values, safety, and risk prevention in group activities. The training focuses on different age groups, as well as on acquiring educational animation techniques, including creative and dynamic group resources. The curriculum covers topics such as activity design, development of group skills, ludic techniques and dynamics, and promotion of values such as cooperation, respect, and sustainability in educational environments. The SEPE-approved certification allows students to work in youth centers, camps, playrooms, and other educational programs.

The theoretical part of the course will be held from March 28 to July 12. Until April 4, training sessions will take place on Fridays from 17:00 to 20:00, and starting on the 11th, on Fridays from 17:00 to 21:00, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 19:00 (no classes during Holy Week). The practical part will run from June 23 to July 31, Monday to Friday, and will take place in summer camps.
