Ronda acogerá Comisión de Igualdad de la FEMP por el 8M

From the Equality area, an intense schedule of activities has been planned with the intention of raising awareness among the entire population

The Ronda City Council has already finalized the program of activities that will take place throughout the month of March in honor of International Women’s Day. The events will kick off on Monday, March 3 with the celebration of an Equality Commission of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which will bring together public representatives from all over Spain in the city of Ronda for a day of work and advocacy.

In this way, the events will begin on Monday, March 3 with an Equality Commission of the FEMP, an important meeting that will last the entire morning in Ronda and will be attended by representatives from municipalities across the country. It will start with an institutional act and will hold a meeting where the update of the State Pact on Gender Violence will have a special role.

On Thursday, March 6, the Empowerment for Self-Defense training will take place, an event where women can register through the Women’s Information Center and learn self-defense techniques. These sessions will be repeated on several days this month, specifically on the 6th, 11th, 13th, 18th, and 25th.

On Friday, March 7, the institutional event for International Women’s Day will be held at the Convent of Santo Domingo starting at 12:00 pm. During the event, the manifesto will be read (institutionally approved), recognitions will be given to four city associations (RondaFEM AFAMMER, the Socio-Cultural Association for the Integration of Women in Ronda, and Female Objective). New agreements of adherence to the Violet Network will also be signed, a pioneering work line in Spain with entrepreneurs from Ronda that is increasingly gaining more collaborating establishments.

On Wednesday, March 12, the theatrical play ‘A Cry from the Darkness’ will be performed at the Vicente Espinel Theater at 8:30 pm. Invitations for this advocacy event can be obtained at the Women’s Center.

To close the International Women’s Day programming, on Thursday, March 20, a training session on Consent and Sexual Education will be held by educator Laura Roqueta. The event is aimed at high school and vocational training students. On the same day, in the afternoon, the workshop ‘Deconstructing the Culture of Rape’ will take place at 5:00 pm at the Women’s Center.
